Keeping Company With Friends!!

I know I haven't been around much. Sorry Y'all. But I've been keeping a lot of company with the friends in the photos on this post. ^_^ They're a cool bunch of young, younger, cooler, and older friends who love my crochet, and love helping me show it off and try to sell it!! Woohoo!!

We're planning to try to get a lot of it out of my wuglyees etsy shop soon.....as in SELL IT!! :-)) I'll let you know how it goes!

In the meantime, I'm crocheting hats, scarves, and slippers like a crazy woman, and I don't have much time online......Of course there's also time for an occasional nap and a tasty treat or two in between! ^_^

I'll be catching up with you here and there though...especially if you have any questions for me! ^_^ My email is hooked into the comment section below, so ask away! At most it'll be 24-48 before you hear from me. ^_^ And I may even rhyme you something!! LOL

I Love A New Experience

I love a new experience!
No matter how it's learned.
A fact that's new to me,
or a new food that I've burned.

A place I've never been,
or a person I've not known.
A book I've never read,
or a gadget on my phone.

A song that's not my norm,
or a craft I've never tried.
A veggie fixed a new way,
whether boiled, sauteed or fried.

I love a new experience!
A new jolt for my old eyes.
To make my life worth living,
and each day a great surprise!

Hi! :-) ... Just so you know, I'm here, but I'm NOT really here! LOL In other words, I just woke up from a nap and my mind is still under the covers dreaming about some soft music being played on a street corner in Italy!! ^_^ But since I'm awake now, I thought I might as well share some of the music with you!! :-) ENJOY!!...and see you tomorrow. ♥

Hmmmmm.......Is This 'TOO' Ambitious For Me?!!

Okay Y'all...I think I let my creativity...and ambition!...get away from me this time. O_O I mean, what was I thinking when I saw those cute football slippers in one of my old crochet books, and thought to myself: "Heyyyyy! :-) I can do those easy!!"?...I'll tell you what I was thinking.....I was thinking waaaay too much, and waaaay too big for my britches!! LOL
But I'm not saying that because I actually tried to make the football slippers.....Noooooo!....Or the cute crochet moccasins!...

No!....I'm saying it because my crazy head thought that those would be tooooo easy!! O_O So I decided to crochet doggie slippers instead! O-O ...

Well, not 'doggie' slippers exactly. Those looked a little bit too ambitious, even for my 'LET'S DO IT!!' head! LOL...Nope! I started some 'puppy dog' slippers! ^_^ ...

Ugh!!....Remember back a few years ago when I promised you that I wasn't ever gonna be making any more stuffed animals, and that my 'Baby Wuglyee' bear was my one and only?!.....Sooooo, how did I talk myself into making these slippers?!!!! O_O Clearly...they are animals. Aren't they?!!!
Well, technically, they really aren't 'JUST' stuffed animals. They're slippers! :-) That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! LOL...Although, after working on ALL THESE CROCHET PIECES...Aargh!!!!...all day, they might not end up being a 'PAIR' of slippers!! ^_^ They may end up being only ONE slipper...that I sell as a candy holder! :-)) ... like I did that other involved slipper I made a while back! LOL

My real excuse for starting them was that I wanted to show my girlfriend how easy crocheting slippers would be, since she crochets herself but has never attempted them!...But what was I thinking, starting with animal slippers?! O_O ...

If I had known before I started them that there would be all of these pieces...I'd be showing her how cute it is to make washcloths!!...Just saying!! LOL...

He can look as cute as he wants too!....No!!!...I'm not buying it!!.....Mr. Puppy trouble!! LOL This is an experience I've had before...and clearly I didn't learn from!...But now...I have!!...for good!  *woof! woof!* LOL

Biscotti, Cantuccini, Or Twice-Baked Cookies, Anyone?! ^_^

https://www.etsy.com/listing/199217872/fall-rustic-keepsake-wedding-boutonniere?ref=favs_view_1

In case you don't recognize the reason for the reference to biscotti in the blog title, here's a clue: today is my hubby and my's 'virtual Friday Date Day'! ^_^ We're heading a long way away today...to the little city of Prato...in Italy! :-)
Besides similar weather to us here in Holyoke right now...(79 degrees F, with a chance of rain)...Prato, Italy is bound to be the place for good music and good food on our date tonight! ^_^ As for good food, how could it not be a good place?! I mean...Biscotti originated there!! ^_^ And if you don't know what biscotti is....O_O WHAT?!!!...Just check out this delicious-looking peanut butter and chocolate biscotti recipe that I found on food network (dot) com!! YUM!...And, just so you know, biscotti comes in all kinds of flavors too!! :-)

Oh Yeah!...before I forget...I included in this blog post the other Etsy treasuries that included items from my wuglyees shop, and a few items from the individual etsy shops themselves....

That should be the last of mention of Etsy treasuries for a while! ^_^ Unless of course.....! :-))

Just so you know, I'm having a better day today...mentally...than I was having yesterday, even though the reason for my mental lapse hasn't gotten any better!...and it won't for a long, long time...if ever. :-( Some things, once done, are DONE!!! And it's a sad sad state of affairs. :-( But, thanks to my relationship with my God, Jehovah, and my congregation, and tons of good friends, nothing that happens in this life is ever so debilitating that I can't get over it. Jehovah is always a place for me to find something to smile about, because he gives me hope of things getting better....and soon! :-]

Okay...enough of that kind of talk!! :-) I'm off to do some packing for Italy!! And I'm listening to some music while I do it! ^_^ ... By the way, I don't speak Italian, so if the part of the song that's not in English isn't good song for me to be playing.....somebody TELL A GIRL, will ya?! LOL...Have a good Friday date night, or a good weekend, Everybody!! ♥

What Do You Not Know How To Do...But You Wanna Learn?!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/189513192/if-you-cant-learn-to-do-something-well?ref=favs_view_1

Have you all been having a good day?!...I've been crocheting, and chatting with hubby all day. I'm about to take a nap so that I can be rested for my meeting tonight! But first I wanted to share one of the conversations hubby and I had today...about learning new stuff! ^_^
Before Alzheimer's or senility takes the last vestiges of this Wug poet's mind, and the mind of her trusty 6-foot hubby...minds that already are almost gone bye bye, I might add... :-)) ...we thought we should try to learn something new! {Plus I heard somewhere that active brain usage can slow down the onset of Alzheimer's!} :-) We figured that we'd try to find something that can teach two 'old dogs' some new tricks! LOL
I already have my fill of useless talent! ^_^ I know how to write backwards...in cursive! :-) ...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/177800772/unique-copper-tray-from-1953-wedding?ref=favs_view_3

...I can recite all 66 books of the Bible in less than 60 seconds! :-) Although this isn't really a 'useless' talent. :-) Finding scriptures in a hurry has proved very useful over the years! ^_^

...and I can car and chair dance with the best of them! :-)

I'm also very flexible, double-jointed in fact, and can lift my foot, by the toes, from a ground position to up over my head! :-))

But none of these 'talents' are doing anything for my memory!! :-))

Hubby and I have decided that we're gonna try to use these memory lax minds to learn something new! And at the top of the list is learning to speak another language...Spanish! :-) I already know a little Spanish, and can understand a bit more than I can speak! ^_^
Hubby had two years of French...back when he was in school...which he has TOTALLY forgotten now, except for merci' and bonsoir! :-)) ... Between his tiny bit of French, and my extensive Pig Latin, we could say thank you at a French restaurant...for some snails!...and oink in unison!! LOL
We can't afford to pay someone to teach us a language right now, so we may be putting our library cards to good use...especially if they have the Rosetta Stone series! :-)

I also have two guitars! One was an anniversary gift, and the other one was given to me by a friend. I cherish both of them, but I don't play either! O_O I had 'intentions' to learn, but they never came to fruition!...

(Guitar Silhouette Shape Boy Print Artwork Set of 4 by TRMdesign)

I'd also like to learn to play chess!...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/186078763/vintage-chess-set-in-wooden-box-vintage?ref=favs_view_6

Hubby already knows how, and has been trying to get me to learn for years! He's tired of playing 'Uno', 'spider solitaire', and 'Scrabble'! ^_^ But in the past, when he's started the chess-teaching conversations, my attention was easily diverted.....too much talk about rooks that only move forward until they're gonna jump the opposing man....and a queen that moves a lot more than the king...and a knight that only moves in an 'L' shape...OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!! O_O It sounds like a dots y-do barn dance gone wrong!! LOL

ANYWAY!! ^_^ We're gonna try to learn.....SOMETHING! And fast!...before we don't have any useful filler left in our craniums!! LOL How about YOU?! Have you learned anything new lately?! ^_^

Look At What's Going On In My Backyard Now!!

Over the years I've had lots of activity, and lots of 'critter visitors' to my backyard and surrounding home. Like in the header photo. That little sleepy baby was found on the ground when one of my friends came to visit! :-]
And, of course, I've had lots of hummingbirds visiting the backyard over the years!...

As a matter of fact, our hummingbird feeder is getting lots of activity daily right now!! :-) Such is the way it is at summertime around the Wug's backyard! ^_^ ... Did I mention that today is officially the first day of summer?! :-) Yep!...June 21, 2014!!...So, Happy Summer to all those in this time zone!! ^_^
Okay...back to what I was talking about... :-)) ...'critter visitors' to the backyard! :-) We've had cardinals!...

      ...Lots and lots of robins!...

In fact, we even found this robin egg just sitting on the patio after a storm!...

A few days prior, it had been in this nest, that is in the tree in our backyard. :-) ...

Hubby couldn't see the eggs at the time he took the photo. ^_^ He raised his arm above his head as far as he could...while hanging onto the tree in an awkward position...took the picture, and hoped he would see something! :-) And he did!!!...In fact, it's one of the best photos he's ever taken in our backyard! ^_^
He couldn't figure out how to get a good focused shot of this little visitor to the backyard!...

And I 'wish' his focus hadn't been as good when he took the photo of this....EWWWWWW!....'critter visitor' to the backyard!! O_O ...

But this morning...this first day of summer, June 2014, we saw something in the backyard that we've never seen!...In fact, TWO things!!...Let me precede this by saying that I have indeed seen bunnies in my backyard. Or should I say "A" bunny! A very large bunny!! O_O I've seen him every once in a while slowly making his way across the yard.
But this morning, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a bunny jumping up and down!.....Up and Down...in the same spot!! O_O I was like: "What in the world?!!" O_O And then I saw that while that bunny was jumping up and down in the same spot, another bunny was 'spazzing out', running circles around him, and then sprinting left.....sprinting right.....sprinting left.....etc. O_O "Uhhhhh...what's up, Doc?" LOL
I was stunned for quite a while, and then it dawned on me that I needed to show this to someone!...and hubby wasn't home! LOL I didn't think he would totally believe me...considering I wasn't feeling well when he left. I thought he might think my mind was not feeling well, like my body was not feeling well! LOL So I grabbed the camera and starting videoing!! ^_^ But I only caught a tiny bit of what they were doing...

Then hubby came home and we were listening to music while I was talking to him about the bunnies, and how nice the weather was, and how it's the first day of summer...Then he started talking to me about how a man had been rude to him when he went in the ministry this morning...All of a sudden hubby stopped mid-sentence and starting 'spazzing out'!! O_O
He yelled "Whoaaaaaaaaa!! Where's the camera?! Where's the camera?!!" :-0 And I was like: "What is it?! What is it?!"...And he pointed out the window, as he ran for the camera!!...This is what we saw!!...

Just sauntering across the yard, just as bold as you please!!! :-) ...

Now, I always knew it was possible for deer...or bears...or foxes...or even a mountain lion!...to waltz through my backyard at any time. BUT I've never actually seen it happen!!...except for the fox. We have seen foxes! We've just never photographed them because they were always moving too fast!...But this deer looked like he was at home! :-)
A deer...at home in my backyard!!...on the weekend!...in Massachusetts!...on the first day of summer!! ^_^ Needless to say, it's not gonna be hard work finding something to smile about today!! ^_^ I hope the same holds true for YOU!! ♥ Have a good weekend, Everybody!
