Is This Weather The Last Push Of The Season?!

     The weather today was just beautiful!!! Sun...not much wind...no rain...and no thunderstorms on the horizon! :-] It almost could've been perfect, except for the fact that there also were no hummingbirds at the feeder, and the 'weeds' decided they wanted to grow like crazy today!!!...
 

     Well...maybe they didn't all grow today, but it hasn't been more than a week! They just shot up from the grown, got higher than the hanging feeder, and started sprouting white and yellow flowers! The white ones (dandelion puffs I call them! ^_^) got caught by the wind yesterday and started blowing all over the backyard!!

     They're actually very pretty, but only from inside!! ^_^ I'd be an achooing mess if I was out THERE!!! LOL
 

     Some air was made to be seen and not inhaled! ^_^ That's my story and I'm sticking with it!! :-))

     I'm thankful for the beauty of nature these days. I'm trying to process some pretty heady news I got a few days ago. No matter how much I try to compartmentalize it...it keeps coming back to the forefront of my mind, trying to distract me away from my smiles. But...even though it's really not good news I'm trying to process and put in it's mental place...I will find things to smile about though...because I must!!

     I finally finished it and listed it in my Wuglyees shop HERE! :-) 
 

     I took some pictures with Shequita (my head model) wearing it, but I sewed the flower on it, and added the drawstring to it, afterward! :-] ...
 

     And in case anybody is wondering, it's not real fur! It's called 'fun fur' and it's 100% polyester. :-] It's washable and dryable, just like the yarn! I think it's a pretty fun combination! :-)
     By the way, I finished an autumn red hat too! Not this same design though. It's my flip up hat. Hopefully I'll get some photos of it tomorrow...maybe! In the meantime I'm crocheting two more flip up hats right now...at the same time! ^_^ I'm alternating between them. :-)) They won't be done for a couple of days though.
     In case you hadn't noticed, I'm not online as much these days. I'm spending a lot more time crocheting. I'm trying to get some product built up for a big Fall season. I'm gonna be focusing more on my hats and 'Ugly Wuglyee' scarves. It's TIME!! ^_^
     I'm also gonna be getting rid of my 'Free Shipping' mid-September. I hear that the post office is upping their prices again! Ugh! I can't compete if I don't add the shipping prices back...Sooooo if you're interested in anything from my shop (those of you in the U.S.) now would be the time to get it...before the shipping price gets added back to my shop! That 'will' happen on September 16th, 2014!!!
     Enough about me and my shop! What's going on with you guys?!! ^_^

If only the time went unnoticed,
like 'extras' on some movie set.

It's Time To Warm Up Around Here! :-)

      Yes, I know you've seen these mug sweaters before, but considering how cold it is outside...almost too cold to hold onto a cup of tea!...I thought it was time to show you these warm 'babies' again!

      In fact, I wish I could show you every warm thing in t he world today! ^_^ But who has the time for that kind of folderol?!...Not me! I've got things to do!!...crocheting, talking, typing with my sore hand...OUCH!...and napping! ^_^

      So, let's talk about the weather, shall we?!...Brrrrr!...It's 20 degrees fahrenheit here in Massachusetts right now!...That's below freezing, for those of you who haven't had your third cup of coffee yet, and are wondering what this silly 'Wug' woman is talking about! LOL

Did You Know You Could Do That With A Pecan?!!

       Now, I've done some things, in my day, with pecans. Georgia pecans to be exact! :-) That's where I'm originally from...Georgia. Pecan trees lined the streets in some areas in Georgia!

      That being the case, Georgians were required to not only love pecans, but to bake with pecans, eat pecans off the ground after their outer husk had fallen off, toast and eat pecans with a little salt and water sprinkled on them, and put pecans on top of ice cream and all manner of stuff good for the belly! :-)

       Okay...maybe it wasn't a requirement exactly! But considering the amount of pecans we ate when I was growing up, people might've thought it 'was' a requirement!! ^_^ 

      But one thing I've never done with pecans is make jewelry out of them! That's why that gorgeous pecan necklace in my header photo caught my eye! :-)

      Anyway!...I have pecans on the brain today because I've got to make something with these...

     My girlfriend, whose parents moved down to Georgia a few years ago, gave me these delicious pecans she got from her parents! :-) ...

     I've been eating a couple at a time, here and there. But I haven't eaten many because getting the meat of the pecan out is a process!...A painstaking, sometimes-hurt-my-fingers process!...I have to crack the shell, remove the inner woody pecan meat dividers, pick out the pieces of pecan with a nutcracker spike, etc. The only part that's not hard about the process is the chewing and the swallowing part! LOL
      So, I've got to do the time-consuming, painful, work of making something good to eat with them soon though, before they dry up and be no good for the 'chewing and swallowing part'! ^_^ So I went onto Etsy to get some ideas for what I should make. And, as usual, there were lots of pecan laden ideas...starting with my favorite, cookies! :-) ...

       Let me just say, it's not gonna be as easy a process as clicking the "Add To Cart" button and ordering them, but my house is probably gonna be smelling pretty pecan good!! :-) ... But not today!

     Today I'm gonna just keep myself calm and pain free! It's been a pretty rough week for me...And having the television full of the chase to find the second suspect of the bombing incident in Boston...which, by the way, they did find and arrest him last night...hasn't done anything good for my state of calm!...It wasn't near where I live anyway. It was a couple of hours away. But it was the only thing on the local television stations most of the night!!

    My television was off this morning!...I plan to do a little crocheting and make some phone calls, and nothing else today! NOTHING!!! :-] What are you doing this weekend?!...Have a good one, Everybody! {By the way, the poem below is in reference to my upcoming medical tests that are 'upcoming' waaaaay too soon! LOL}

I'm Just Gonna Be Honest With You.......

      I'm just gonna be very honest with you today...I've got only two things on my mind this morning. Tennis...and my crocheting. As you can see from the header photo, which I thank australian open (dot) com for, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal headed off to the court to begin their battle...and I was right behind them!! ^_^
       You can't see me running behind them, but trust me...that's where I was! ^_^ And right now...at 5:08 a.m. in the early morning...I'm sitting with all of Australia...and any other country's crazy tennis fans, like me...watching one of the best matches ever!...Ever!! :-) It's the men's semi-finals!.........SPOILER ALERT:....... Roger Federer, at this moment is up one set...7/6...but Nadal is up in the 2nd set...5/2! :-)
     After this match there will be another great match! :-) Andy Murray versus Novak Djokovic! :-) ... So, needless to say...and I know that any regular readers of this blog are not gonna believe this!... ^_^...I'm not in the mood for much talking today! O_O In fact, I'm doing my blog early so that I can just sit and watch my matches in quiet, without talking, and without worrying about what time I'm gonna get my blog up!...Enjoy the lack of 'going on'. It won't last past the weekend...The Australian Open will be over. LOL
      As I said though, there is one other thing on my mind...crocheting...I wanted to show any of you that were reading my blog yesterday, that I finally decided on the color thing for my "sack" hat...

      I decided to keep it kinda low-key. I made the flower gray also, and I added a sea-foam green pinwheel type button in the center of it.

      I realized that I didn't have any all gray hats or scarves in the shop, and since all gray items fly out of the shop really fast, I decided to put a basic color in there now, and later I can do another one with some COLOR!! :-) ...By the way, if you're interested, I listed it in my Wuglyees shop yesterday HERE.
     I'm working on the scarf right now. I'm putting a new pattern in it. It has a section with a pretty double crochet stitching. I made it up. :-) I probably should write it down, in case I wanna repeat it in the future...You know how my brain remembers things these days...or not! LOL
      Anyway!....Here's where I am so far on the scarf...

     Okay....I gotta go! Rafael Nadal has leveled the match in the 2nd set...7/6! Now Roger and Rafa both have a set a piece, and the score in the 3rd set is 1/1! All even! :-) ... I like y'all and all, but I don't wanna miss any more of it!!! LOL

SHOO!...'Time' Fly!!

        I've been really good for days! But then...out of nowhere last night...I got in a really somber, irritated mood. I couldn't figure out why my husband's cooking was not adequate. Why the laundry detergent...that my clothes are always washed in...suddenly smelled too 'perfumey'. Why I was getting pings and pains all over my body...and the rain is not due until Wednesday! O_0

      But when I woke up for the 3rd time this morning it finally dawned on me why. 'Peaches' funeral is coming up this coming weekend...*sigh* I guess my body is not handling this as well as my mind is...*sigh* I wish I could just 'Shoo!' the thought of the upcoming day out of my mind...the way you shoo away a fly that's nagging at you!

      I've been crocheting! You'd think that that would be enough to keep my attention and let the time pass by without a notice...and I thought it was!

         Say 'Hello!' to my latest 'baby'! I think I'm going to call it the "Retro Fan Headband". :-)

       It's waving at you! :-)) ...It's certainly got enough color, don't you think?! ^_^ Pink, White, Black, Green, Red...

        These are all pieces of yarn that I had laying around that weren't enough to make a whole headband out of. I wasn't sure what it would look like in the end, but I figured that if it didn't turn out that great I could use it to keep my hair tight to my head at night...a sorta night cap. LOL

       I have a few pieces of yarn still. I may work on another "Retro" headband with those pieces today. But before I got started on another one I had to put a flower on my "Retro Fan Headband"...

      I went with black...

      ...and this cloth covered 'fan' button I just bought recently...

         I ran out of this particular black and had to put a brown crochet back on the flower. It continued my 'retro' theme perfectly! ^_^ I finished the whole thing last night...

        And as is the case so many times with my creations, now I love it!! :-)

       I don't know if anybody else will! LOL But whatever!...It kept me company when I was trying to shoo away time! :-)

      It's funny, isn't it, how at some times in your life time just seems to drag, while at other times it just flies! I didn't ever think I would get to a point where I wanted it to go by without me noticing it at all though!...But this week that's exactly where I am...*sigh*

      I've almost picked up the phone to call 'Peaches' three times now...When I saw one of the parts (article) we had to study for the meeting; When I saw a commercial on television; and when I was just sitting quiet laughing about something...*sigh* I miss being able to share my 'nothing special' with her. :-(

     I'm sure the next few days are gonna go by. And I'm sure I'm gonna keep trying to distract myself and shoo the time away...mentally.  I wouldn't have to shoo it away if only Jim Croce could've figured out how to save 'time in a bottle'! :-))

      Oh well...I might as well get ready for the weekend. It's gonna come whether I want it to or not!...The only good thing is that I know I'll have forever to make up for this little bit of time we're gonna miss together right now. :-] And in the meantime I still have headbands...and time that I'm working hard to shoo and wave away mentally. :-)
