      Besides my normal Monday fare, there wasn't anything extraordinary about today. But that was just fine, because some Mondays just need to be Mondays! Uneventful...quiet...spaghetti-filled...Mondays! ^_^

Kangaroos On My Fingernails?!

      What do kangaroos on your fingernails say about you?!....They say that you really love either kangaroos...fingernail art...or Australia! ^_^ But considering that yesterday was the beginning of the Australian Open tennis tournament, I'd say that if you were wearing kangaroos on your fingernails while sitting in a very large sports arena in Australia, with ball boys crouching and running back and forth along a net, I'd say you love TENNIS!! :-)

      I'm not really a kangaroos-on-my-fingernail type of girl, but I do love tennis! ^_^ So I understand kangaroo nail art...in Australia...while you're watching a tennis match!! ^_^ It's subtle, considering some of the outfits Aussie tennis fans have worn!! LOL

      I'm already up at five O'clock (a.m.), watching Serena Williams play someone I've never seen play before, Barty...I don't even know her first name...yet. And before I went to bed I watched Venus Williams lose :-( ... and Djokovic win :-) their first round matches. I think it's gonna be a great tournament...and a welcome distraction to the end of a long week and weekend.

      This is the time of year when I have to put a sports disclaimer on the blog. :-) Please forgive my distraction over the next couple of weeks. There may be lots of tennis talk...football and basketball jargon...and who knows what other kind of sports updating!...and a sad lack of crocheting going on! ^_^ 
      And my 'Friday date night' destination is already decided...on a Monday! LOL...

     I wanna start this post by letting you know that all of the photos in it are from the Etsy shop FrenchKnotStudios. I'm telling you that 'right off the bat' because it's important to know!...especially for anyone that's planning a wedding! :-)

     NO! I'm not planning a wedding! :-)) And I don't know why I'm talking to you about it...except that I don't have anything else to talk about besides my 'nosy' Etsy endeavors!! LOL So....weddings it is!! ^_^

     Oh yeah, there is another reason. It's because this shop is GREAT!!!! I knew that right away when I saw the pocket square with the words on it: "Can't wait to marry you!" :-] Oh!!! What a great idea!!!...

      I flashed back in my mind to over thirty years ago when hubby and I got married, and I thought about how sweet it would've been to give hubby a note like that to put in his pocket before we walked down the aisle!...Way to go Audrey!!...What a creative and wonderful idea!!

      And after I saw the pocket square, I looked to the right, in her shop, and saw a photo of a guy in a tie, with a heart boutonniere on his chest...A heart boutonniere!!...Okay, now you know, being the crochet boutonniere queen that I am....at least in my own mind! ^_^ ...I just 'had' to look at the rest of the shop!!! LOL

      The shop is full of great wedding items!!!...Just look at the ones that I loved!!!...

Life...Family...And Pretty Butterflies!

       Hello! :-) See my smiley face? --> :-) I'm feeling better. A lot better! I haven't coughed for hours! My nostrils are staying clear...except for just after I wake up. And my head is thinking up all kinds of pretty things to make today! :-)

       That's probably why this pretty craft tape from the Etsy shop lillalotta caught my eye. Talk about PRETTY!! :-)

      Oh, if only I could figure out how to get some of it onto my crochet flowers!! ^_^ Ha! Even I'm not that talented!! LOL So I guess I'll just admire it from afar. :-)

      I really don't have anything to talk about today, so this post will be a kind of 'stream of consciousness' ramble..Starting with the fact that I was contacted by my biological father's family recently. I don't know why I'm even talking about it because it's such a confusing situation for me.

      My biological father died a long time ago now. I never knew him. It does my heart good though, to get updates about how everybody is doing. I also must admit that it feels kind of disconnected somehow too though. I mean, I'm a sister, but not really...I have nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles...but not exactly. O_O 

      It almost seems like a book I read somewhere! LOL A father I never met before he died, a step-mom who I don't really know, and who seems wary of me. Sisters and brothers that I never converse with...but somehow we're all related! ^_^ ...Add to that the other sisters and brothers who I sometime wish I didn't want to converse with, and you have the whole story of moi!...family-wise I mean.

      It's not the 'whole' story of moi...because you'd have to add a whole lot of Jehovah God, some wonderful friends, a trick hip and some arthritis (Grrr!), some Russell Stovers chocolates, a six-foot husband, some crochet hooks, boutonniere flowers and pretty yarn...to get the whole story of 'MOI'!! LOL

      I've talked about my family situation on earlier blog posts anyway, so I won't get too into again, but if you have any ideas about how to navigate this kind of relationship, without stepping on spiritual and emotional toes, give a girl (me) a clue, will ya! ^_^

Blank Space Is Good For Dressing Up And Writing In!

     Have you ever looked at a blank space, or a blank page, and been totally dumbfounded as to what you were going to write about?!...Yeah, it's happened to me too...No! Really. It has! ^_^ ...but the wordlessness only lasted for about a second, in my case! LOL I can always find SOMETHING to talk about...even if it's talking about how pretty the blank space itself is! ^_^

     I'm talking about that gorgeous journal in my header photo. Isn't it colorful and pretty?! And it looks like the perfect place to write down some new poems or something! :-) I'll have to keep that in mind!...The blank space I'm gonna fill today though, is my blog space! I'm gonna dress it up a bit. It looks like it needs some accessories! :-)

Crunchy And Fuzzy Coin On A Pillow Love

       First thing's first, let me say a big 'Thank You' to everyone that took the time yesterday to give me a little bit of encouragement and love when I wasn't feeling so hot...Mmmmmmuah!!! :-] I'm not feeling a hundred percent still today, but better than yesterday. Especially my mood! But I'm sure that has something to do with your comments, a good chat with one of my 'besties', and....hmmmm...there was something else..... O_0 .....Oh Yeah! I made two sales in my Wuglyees shop yesterday!! :-)

       I sold a men's boutonniere and a men's lapel pin! :-) Isn't that great?!...Only problem is...I don't have very many men's boutonnieres left in the shop! I've got to put men's boutonnieres on my 'To Do' list!...That list is getting pretty long right about now! O_O I guess I better stop fooling around with experimental projects and get to that list! Before I show you my latest experimental project though, let me show you some CRUNCHY LOVE! :-) ...

        It's a new Etsy treasury, curated by Sheryll Raz Gold, of BLUSHFASHION! I don't know why she named it crunchy love. Maybe it's because just looking at it makes you wanna crunch the numbers in your checkbook to try to buy all the goodies she shared...like that gorgeous bracelet in the header photo! LOL But whatever the reason, I'm very thankful that she included my black and gray crochet bedroom slippers!...

      

     I liked a lot of the items she chose...which, if you click the photo of the treasury above you can go and see for yourself!...but the one that really caught my eye was this one...

          It's a black and grey leather cuff bracelet by worldofpineapple. :-) Pretty snazzy, huh?!...Oh, if only I could figure out how to make a crocheted version of it!! LOL

      Anyway!! ^_^ I've already got my hands full!...Once I got some rest yesterday, and started to feel a little better, I got to work making the custom ordered little flowers that I told you about. They ended up being a lot more work than I thought they would be, with me having to use that tiny crochet hook!...O-U-C-H! But I did them! :-) Now, this morning, I have to crochet and sew on the little backs for them, so they can be sewn or pinned on...I'll try to get some photos of them when they're done, so I can show you.

      Prior to doing the custom order, and before I started feeling poorly, I was working on my fuzzy coin button pillows! :-) I have to do the backs for them too today. But this is what they look like so far....

        In the above photo I have the one side of each square folded, and just sat the crocheted flower up on top of it...just for the photo's sake.

       This is what the white one looks like stretched out. (The quality of the photos?!....Well, YOU know!! LOL)

       No, they weren't black and white photos! LOL Just a tired and lazy photographer. ^_^

           Now that I've done the crochet flower this huge, I know how I would crochet it differently next time...to make it more pronounced and pretty. But I WAS NOT gonna try to unravel all that fuzzy...and "would-be knotty-by-then"...yarn, to try to re-do it!!

        It's not perfect,...my big ole fuzzy 'baby'...but it was made with a lot of fuzzy love! :-) I'm hoping to finish them today....But I'll be satisfied if it's done by the weekend. I'm so ambitious these days, you know....NOT! :-))

      Okay...that's it for me today!  Except to let you know that hubby is starting to love his new route he says. It's a lot less stress for him, as to how many stops he has to do. But also because he's close to home. He doesn't feel so conflicted about working when he knows he can pop home any time...Between you and I, I'm still working on a big book deal or a crochet supply house that'll make me a million dollars so I can get him off the road completely! ^_^ That's just between you and I though....and any contract-toting book publisher that might wanna contact me! LOL

I Took A Little Pause....For Winter?!

        I took a little pause from headband making yesterday to spend the day with two of my favorite people...my girlfriend and my hubby. :-) My girlfriend and I spent the first part of the day together, and me and hubby spent the evening together...doing a version of our 'Date Night' thing. :-]

     I know I shouldn't tell you...but I'm gonna tell you anyway! ^_^ I had chicken fried steak and sawmill gravy, grits, eggs, biscuits and blackberry jam, and a large coffee for breakfast....YUM!!!!!!!...Ooooo! flashback!! I just remembered my diary!

     I used to write in my diary every single day from when I was about 12 years old, up to about 17 or 18! And no matter what I wrote for the day...it always ended with me writing down what was for dinner! ^_^ And 'back in the day' that included what flavor of 'Kool-Aid' we drank with it! LOL

      So, as you can see from my food list above...some things never change! LOL...Not like the weather. That's always changing!! And pretty soon it's gonna change again around here...to winter...and ice...and snow....and snow mixed with ice! UGH! I know it will...because it's been hinting at it for a couple of weeks now.

     We've been getting what my grandmother would have called the kind of weather that 'spits at ya'! LOL ...But hey! Winter is not here yet! And since it's not...I needed to pause from headband making, to fingerless glove making...

        The above fingerless gloves were sorta my inspiration...I say 'sorta' because these are the style I like. Fingers completely out, so you can flip through your book or dial the phone,...and thumb half way out too, so your gloves won't just slip off your hand.

    But you know me.... :-) ...I needed some color!...

     I started showing you these yesterday. I hadn't started the end color yet though...

        As of this morning, I have one glove completely finished and I'm almost done with the second one...

       Are you laughing at my crazy-colored winter fingerless gloves?! :-)) If so....it's alright. I know they're not everybody's colors. But I like 'em!! ^_^ And I'm hoping that somebody sees them in my shop and likes them too!

     They're very time consuming to make. That's why I don't have more of them in my shop. But I think I'm gonna try to make more now. They seem to be popular. I know I've sold every pair I've made...even the black and purple striped ones!...Next time around though, I'll try to make a more toned down color pair...unless I get a custom request. Come on!..Don't you want me to make a funky-colored pair for you?! ^_^

         Last night hubby and I watched 'The Help'. For me it was the second time during the day. My girlfriend and I watched it too! ^_^ Both times it was good!!...It might not have been as much about the movie as it was about spending the time with two of my favorite people though. :-) I'm gonna continue that time today...after some more pressing things are done. {Hubby has to put brakes on the car.}
