What An Annoying Day That Was!!!!!

Stay with me now!........because I know this is gonna be a stupid question, but have you ever had one of those days where everything seemed to start out just fine,...except for a little bit of physical issues,...and a little bit too much on your mind,.....and then the world seemed to tilt everything just a little bit on it's axis.....AND EVERYTHING STARTED TO GO HAYWIRE ALL AT THE SAME TIME?!!!!!! O_O Well...that was my yesterday!!
My stomach was acting up all day. I should've known right there and then that it was gonna be an one of those days!! Here's what happened:

1.  I had a list made of the things I needed to get from JoAnn Fabrics...to do my finishing embroidery work on my crochet pillow. It was a loose list, you know....the basics....Hubby left the house to go somewhere that was gonna take him about an hour and a half. No problem....HOURS went by. He wasn't answering his phone. I began to worry. O_O Did he have a car accident? Did something come up that he hadn't expected? Why hadn't he called?!
    HOURS later...he pops back into the house...without a care...carrying bags from two craft stores, one being JoAnn Fabrics!! He saw the list I'd made and thought he'd just go and get the things for me. He said he was gonna call while he was out and let me know, but he forgot his cell phone here at the house. {Eight scared, worried messages later.......UGH!} I asked why he didn't call me from one of the stores or stops he made......he said: "Oh! I could've done that, couldn't I?! :-) I didn't think of that......O_0}
And my stomach went...gurgle, gurgle, gurgle....Now, maybe I shouldn't have been annoyed. After all, he went shopping for things he thought I needed, and he was standing there so proud of himself that he had gone on this 'adventure' without being prompted for a change!
No, I shouldn't have been annoyed...but I was!! Grrr!...I was annoyed because I didn't get to tell him the specifics of exactly what I wanted at JoAnn's...He came back with only one of the four items correct. Muslin fabric. The fabric I was gonna use to practice my embroidery stitches...*shaking my head*...And yes I do hear all of you out there in blogland telling me to MOVE ON and take it for what his intention was....Okay!!!!!

2. I went to write a check for something yesterday and realized that I didn't have any!! O_O The brand new checks I ordered over a week ago hadn't come...and I had forgotten all about it!...Thankfully, as quick as I realized I didn't have any, the mailman came and there they were!....PHEW! One slightly more annoying annoyance averted.

3. I put my blog up yesterday. Went and did some updating in my Etsy shop. Went offline for a while. Came back online and answered a couple comments I had gotten on the blog...Went back offline for a few hours....Came back online. Headed to my blog, and........and......I couldn't access it! O_0 It said I was denied access! And even worse...that my blog had been deleted!!!!!...What?!!!...Why?!!!!...
(T-Shirt Wording by FloozeesDoozees)
I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out what was wrong...going to a lot of your blogs trying to see if I could access mine from yours....Nope! Asking questions on Twitter.....on Etsy.....on Facebook.
Finally YAY!!! I got some help!! A wonderful fellow blogger...who I would name in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure she would like it. :-)) She showed me exactly where to go. Then.....click....bam...boom! I was back in!!! :-]
Was that the end of my annoyances of the day?!.....No!...*gurgle, gurgle, gurgle*...Aargh! I'm not gonna make you sit through me listing any more of them though. Why should you be annoyed just because I am?!!! LOL.....Well, maybe I'll just mention a few of them. LOL
This morning everything on the computer wants to update, and a bunch of things in my Etsy shop have expired all at once and need updating, and....and this is really annoying, even still this morning,...I missed my trip to Madagascar for my 'virtual date night' last night!....Grrrrr!!!!...My mind was a little occupied and hubby didn't want to annoy me talking about a little trip to Africa! LOL
What else?!......Well, my brain doesn't want to calmly put words together this morning either!....and even though the temperature in our area is supposed to get up to 50 something today, right now I'M FREEZING!!!....Did I make my brain and body annoyed with me now?!!!...
Why not?!!!.....Go ahead, body and brain, be annoyed!! Why should I be the only one?!!!......Grump.....Out!!!! LOL

Contagious Annoyance

Are annoyances contagious?
Yeah, you heard just what I said!
There was one thing that annoyed me;
Then somehow it seemed to spread.

I was annoyed at my computer,
at my stomach, and at me;
Annoyed at why my written-worded
brain cells seemed to flee!

Annoyed at my 'To Do' list
never seeming to get done.
Annoyed that going shopping
wasn't nearly as much fun.

Annoyed at family members,
and at hubby's 'helpful' glee.
Annoyed at Blogger-dot-com,
and it's not letting me be me!

So, come on everybody,
Please! Today, 'throw me a bone'!
Just peacefully leave annoyed
and crazy girl alone!

I Am In Slow Motion Today!!!

Isn't it always the way?!...I went from yesterday having nothing to talk about....to today, having too much to talk about!...and not knowing where to start!...Okay, let's start with the fact that my hubby's idea for my crochet pillow, the iron-on transfer idea, is a 'wash'!...We're now not gonna do that.
He went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and asked the lady about it and she dissuaded him..."Thank You Jo-Ann Fabrics' employee!! ^_^"...She told him that if he put an iron transfer onto a crochet pillow it would probably make the material pull, and the letters would get all funky when it was washed!...He got her point right away...Whew! Saved my crochet afghan from a terrible experiment!! LOL
Instead of iron-on transfer, my 'Tigger-ific' friend told me this morning that she'll embroidery my little poem onto my pillow for me!!...And she's also gonna teach me how to do embroidery! ^_^ Isn't that great! Another skill for my brain's crafty bag!
We made a list of all of the things we'll need to do it...including some muslin fabric for me to practice on....Another trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics coming up!! :-)
In other news, I got a phone call from my father...UGH!...family issues going on...UGH! UGH!...He wondered if I had gotten a phone call from a particular family member...A particular family member that I haven't talked to in at least a year, and would be SHOCKED if they actually called me!.....
...A particular family member who may, or may not, be doing drugs (and not with a doctor's supervision either!!), and who called another one of my relatives recently talking about suicide!! O_O ...Which is better?...No news.....or the kind of news that makes you crazy?!!...Aargh!...Let me see....could this be why my stomach wants to do the fandango this morning....and without musical accompaniment?!..O_0...Yeah! That could be it!
But, while I have all of these issues going on...and a few medical issues too this morning, with my stomach, head, and other stuff,...I also have my 'hubby nurse' home with me. :-) He's a handy hunk of man to have around! ^_^ ...And I also have crochet! :-) I sold my eight-color scarf yesterday...and I have to make another one.
      I started it last night...
I'm on my 4th color...the red...so far. I'll probably have it all done by the end of the day. It's wonderful therapy for a mind that's full of too much.
Other than the crocheting though...I'm really in slow motion this morning. I have to wash my hair, do some studying, and a few other little piddly things, but dragging myself to do them is gonna be work...WORK I tell you!!....But....off I go to try to get it started!!!...after a little bit more chit chatting with my 'Bestie' I mean. :-)
      Have a good day everybody......a much better...and 'gooder'...day than me!! :-)

I Tell It All

What good's a secret from your friends?
How much of "YOU" do you shut out?
Do you tell them all you know,
or do you hide what you're about?

Do they know how much you argue,
or how much you really spend?
Do they know your real hair color?
Are they not that kind of friend?!

Do they know the way you laugh
when your giggle can't be stopped?
Do they know your honest feelings
after all your hair's been chopped?

Are they totally informed
of the size you really wear?
You might hide it from your in-laws,
but your 'Bestie' doesn't care!!

What good's a secret from your friends?
In a 'Fix' that's who you call!
Then they're gonna find you out!
Might as well just tell it all!

MEH......But Necessary

You ever have chores that just need doing, but don't seem all that interesting to talk about?! Well, that's what our day was like yesterday....Meh. We did stuff that everybody has to do eventually, but who wants to hear about it! LOL Guess what?!...You get to hear about it today!!!!...*my exclamation points are my attempt at trying to make it interesting... ^_^ ....I know.....moving on!*
Anyway!....Shopping is interesting, right?!....Well...it can be. It just depends on what you're shopping for! In our case....meh. We needed to get some onions and trash bags from the grocery store. Needed to look for my special wash-up liquid soap that I used to get from KMart...meh...They don't carry it there anymore. Had to get a generic version from the grocery store. :-( ...Hope it doesn't give me hives. I'll keep you...*scratch, scratch*...informed.
We had to buy new wash cloths. It was time!!!! The old ones...the ones 'we' use I mean...were at the point where they were making their own strips for handles...and you don't really need handles on a wash cloth, do you?! LOL
What is it with humans...maybe just female humans...anyway?! We have the most beautiful...pristine even!...wash cloths in the guest bathroom, but our own personal wash cloths are falling apart and shaking their head violently at the washing machine ..."No!! No More Detergent!!!"...every time they get near it! ^_^
We had to get stamps...for all of the 'Thank You' cards I have to write. ♥ People are so good to me. :-] A friend even made us a delicious green salad and a 'killer good' lasagne yesterday!!...*pause for reflection*.....Yum! It was so good!!:-]
And lastly, I needed a pillow form to put inside my brand new pillow case!...
How am I ever gonna be able to decide on a price for this little pillow?! O_O the materials are easily figured out. But how do you put a price on love, time, inspiration,....blood, sweat, and tears?!!
And I still have to put my poem on the front....meh...Hubby says I should have the poem printed onto an iron-on transfer, and then iron it onto the front of the pillow O_0 The testing for that project is slated for later today. He's gonna show me what he means....I think one of the blankets I still have around here may 'bite the dust' in that experiment today!! LOL I'll try to keep an open mind. If it works...or if it doesn't...I'll show it to you tomorrow maybe.
Two more things....1. Interesting proof of how cold it was around here...
...Hubby's glasses fogged up when he stepped out the door. Apparently his body warmth...well, the heat coming from his eyes anyway...was hotter than the air outside! Brrrr!
And 2. the last thing...I woke up to two sales in my shop...from a repeat customer! :-) A brooch...

       ...and a key chain...
...one of my slipper key chains. I think the making of these slipper key chains may be back on my "To Do" list. People have been inquiring about them all of a sudden.
Have a good day everybody...until tomorrow! Maybe tomorrow will be interesting!! ^_^.........Meh.

I Think I Need To...

I think I need to change things up,
flip the script, change direction;
I don't want to lose my love
for that which I have so much affection?

I think I need some brand new eyes,
to see things a different way.
Because the way that I've been seeing
really isn't gonna pay.

I think, because it's me, I need
some creative inspiration.
Some sketches, markers, ball point pens,
and some Disney animation.

I think that this may take some time.
It seems a lot for me to do.
So, maybe I should change my mind.
I'll let you know when I get back to you!

"The Hawk Is Out"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure this isn't an expression that everybody uses (the post title), but I've grown up hearing it ever since we moved to the New England area...I remember my dad waking us girls up for school and saying: "Make sure you dress warm. The hawk is out!"...O_0
We didn't know what he was talking about......until that cold blast of 'take-your-breath-away' air hit us in the face as soon as we stepped one foot out the front door of the house!!! And Oh Yeah! The hawk was definitely out!...whatever that meant.
I hadn't thought about that expression...or frankly, what it meant...for years. But 'out of the blue'...*another expression I don't know why I say it! ^_^*...this morning, when a cold blast of air hit me, I said: "Uh Oh! I guess the hawk is out!" Ha! Ha!...(you can follow the lit up  link for an explanation if you like.)...

When hubby heard me say that, he gave me a funny look...as he pulled the covers a little closer around his head.  Then he stuck his hand out from up under the covers...*he was holding the T.V. remote...Umph! Umph! Umph!*...turned to the weather channel, and......sure enough...as he acknowledged out loud...the hawk "IS" out!!! Ha! Ha!
It's eight (8) degrees Fahrenheit here in Holyoke this morning!.....8....degrees!!! And the weather man had the nerve to 'add insult to injury' by telling us that while it's technically 8 degrees, the wind chill factor is minus 4!!! Meaning that it looks like 8 degrees, but it feels like -4...In other words, if you go out there in that weather with any body part exposed you can expect to have to pick it up off the ground, drag it back inside, and thaw it out, and re-attache it before you can use it again! LOL

Even the Florida oranges aren't gonna get a break today!...The whole East Coast needs to put their chunky scarves (header photo) and long johns on!!!.......So, needless to say, our plans are gonna be slightly altered today. Instead of going out and walking around the neighborhood to share a Bible message...we're gonna be right here in the house...doing some reading, maybe watching a movie, playing Scrabble, etc....In other words, keeping all of our body parts safe from the reach of swooping hawks! LOL

The temperature is suppose to warm up tomorrow, so the spiritual sharing with the neighbors will be done then. Not today!!...Sorry neighbors! ^_^ ....But don't worry...we're still gonna come. :-))

The only other things I wanted to tell you today...on 'wordless Wednesday...Yeah, Right!! LOL...is that the new Giveaway is posted! :-) ...On January 15, 2012....2012!!!!! O_O WOW! Where is the time flying off to?!...Probably somewhere with that hawk! ^_^...anyway! on January 15, 2012 I'll be drawing two...2...names! One for each of my little crochet bags. (You can see my bad photos of them in the right hand sidebar link) So if you're interested follow the rules posted on the link to enter.
In case you haven't noticed, I'm giving away things from my Wuglyees shop now. Things that aren't going in the direction that I want my shop to go...Not that there's anything wrong with my little bags! But it's just that I don't want to be a 'little bag crochet shop'. I kinda wanna focus more on my headbands, scarves, jewelry and poetry going forward...with maybe an occasional specialty item thrown in...like a particular pink and white crochet/Tunisian stitched/cross-stitched pillow. :-)
Finally, a big thank you to all of you who so lovingly shared your personal stories about your parents with me yesterday. It never ceases to amaze me that in no matter how many ways we, as a global people, are different,...we're all so very much the same. :-) So, smiles and much affection to each and every one of you today!! And if it's cold where you are too, consider yourself snuggled up with too! ♥ Have a good day!! :-)

Winter Is The Snow

Winter is the snow,
when the chilly breezes blow,
and the clouds all seem to flow,
and the birds, in flight, will go,
with their ducks all in a row-
but they leave behind the crow.

Winter is the snow,
when the farmer doesn't sow,
and its not the time to hoe,
and there's nothing left to mow,
'cause the seed, right now, won't grow.

Winter is the snow,
and the little baby doe,
with his mama's eyes aglow,
and defensiveness in tow,
'cause she's had her share of woe.

The ducks, the farmer, and the doe
respect the season, 'cause they know
that winter is the snow.

Are Your Parents Still Affectionate?!

To those of you who are still young...I'm talking...in your twenties or early thirties...that question probably sounds ridiculous. You're probably thinking: "What in the world are you talking about?!...Of course they are!"
Well, clearly, I'm not talking about YOUR parents! LOL I'm talking to those of you with parents in their seventies or eighties...or more!...Are your parents still affectionate toward each other?!
Before I go any further let me tell you what I'm talking about...and what I'm NOT talking about! I'm not talking about sex here. I'm talking about affection. Holding hands, touching, cuddling, sitting close to each other on the sofa, flirting with each other in the kitchen, looking each other affectionately in the eye from across the room, and maybe a butt pat every once in a while...*Teehee*...you know...old people love!

I'm talking about it because my hubby, after fixing the brakes on the car yesterday.....FINALLY done!!..., took his mom over to the facility to visit his dad. Apparently she wanted to take him a coat and some shoes to wear on an appointment to the doctor's office later in the week.
They don't get to see each other often anymore, with him being in a facility not close by, and ma not being able to drive. {I still can hardly believe that she never learned to drive!} My hubby's siblings share the responsibility of taking her over to see him. Usually his brother takes her every Monday, but because it was a holiday yesterday...which we don't celebrate anyway...and hubby was off work, hubby took her.
He was feeling sad for his mom. :-( He said she looks lonely these days...like she's starving for affection...

He remembers that she never did before. In fact, his mom and dad barely got along when they were in the house together! She almost seemed relieved when she first had the house to herself!...He told me about how his mom used to tell his father every week when he went grocery shopping to bring certain things home...new things!...and how his father would just totally ignore her and bring the exact....I mean EXACT...same thing home every week!
Just from the story, it sounded to me like there must've been something else going on between them. Some kind of long time resentment or something....But over what?....Who knows! For as long as I've been in the family...more than thirty years now...what I've seen is that they hardly ever talk to each other, except for when ma was bickering over one thing or the other that 'Pop' did...or didn't do!

But yesterday, when he took ma to visit his father, he noticed a true and gentle affection between them!...

It took hubby aback to see his father smile when his mother walked into the room, and put his hand out to hold hers. Then, while hubby busied himself with something...anything!...they whispered softly to each other, and his mom laid her head affectionately on his father's shoulder for a while...My hubby could barely believe his eyes!!
When did they become friends again?!...

When did they rekindle their affection for one another?!...

         And hubby wanted to know where all of this affection was when he was a kid?!!!!...He jokingly says sometimes that he doesn't even know how his youngest sister was even conceived!...because somewhere after the middle kid was born his parents began to sleep in separate bedrooms, on different floors of the house! O_O {He suspects his father's acquired drinking habit at this time might've had something to do with it it, but he doesn't know for sure.}
Personally, I don't care when or where it started. I just think it's nice. :-) I was raised in a completely different environment than my hubby was. In fact, the affection between my parents in our household was 'over the top' sometimes!...and not always in a good way...But that's a story for another time!...But even so, given the choice of seeing too much affection between my parents, versus no affection at all, I'd take the affection every time!
The good thing about the affection in my family was that they weren't afraid to show their feelings...ever! Especially my dad. He was a flirting pro with my mom, and my step mom in later years. Maybe that's why they loved him so much. :-]
Now, me and my hubby are in our fifties and I can't imagine having a non-affectionate relationship...no matter how old we get! I look forward to many, many years to come...cuddling with him, holding his hand, putting my head on his shoulder, and whispering sweet nothings in his ear...whether he can hear them or not!.....Aaaaaaa?! ^_^
Are your parents still affectionate with each other?!.....Can you talk about it?! ^_^ I'm off to figure out what the Giveaway will be this time. But I look forward to hearing what you have to say on this subject!

Too Old To Love?!

Are you ever too old to love?
Past the age to wink and coo?
I don't mean with someone else.
I mean with the one you're married to.

Is there an age when holding hands
seems redundant childish fare?
Are your kids puzzled when you kiss?
Or are you too old to even go there?

Do your seventy year old parents
still give each other the flirty eye?
Do they openly show affection,
or seem slightly nervous when you walk by?

Do they sit real close together?
Or have the years made them get colder?
Would you be shocked if they spoke softly,
Or saw a head laid on a shoulder?

If you're married all those years,
I think your love should not look flat!
You should be free to show your love.
All of those years should earn you that!

This Reminds Me Of 'Show And Tell"!!!

I'm probably gonna date myself with this post, but do any of you remember back when you were in Elementary School (if this was something your country did), when they use to have 'Show and Tell' day?! I used to love it! It was always an experience getting to see what other people were interested in.
Well, just looking around Blog land is like that for me sometimes. You all are a very interesting and crafty bunch! :-) I wanna show you and tell you about a couple of people...and I have something to show you of mine too. But first, just look at the photos from two blogs that I read regularly. One is Vicki's blog, 2 Bags Full. Her and her husband took these photos on their recent trip to Sulphur Mountain...
They're breath-takingly beautiful photos! And these few are only a 'drop in the bucket'. You have to go HERE and see the rest!! When you read her descriptions you'll see how good she must have been at 'Show and Tell'. :-)

Another blogger who's a great photographer is Kamana, of Journalling Through Photos blog. Her photos of the islands, with sandy beaches, sun and fun, are also usually quite breath-taking. But this photo on her blog got to me the other day! :-) ...
It's full of the "Awwwwwwww!-factor". ^_^ So sweet!...But this photo is only a 'drop in the bucket' of all of the photos she shares too. You can go by her blog almost any time for beautiful photos HERE.

I could be here all day...sincerely...because y'all are such interesting and creative people. But I'll stop there...for now...and show you what I was working on all day yesterday...
I know!...you're thinking Yawn!, Yawn! Another soft blue headband. ^_^ ...I forgive you! LOL
But this one is a little bit different. My creative juices were pulled into play when my friend 'Bead' (Cindy) received the Giveaway headband for her granddaughter and mentioned that it kept sliding up on her head...even though she wore it and didn't mind anyway. :-) Little cutie!
I contemplated what 'Bead' said about maybe making a thinner section in the back. I didn't want to make a section TOO thin, because I make my headbands to cover the ears in the cold weather. But she did make me realize that there could be a slight adjustment made.

Meet 'The Ponytail Headband'! :-)

In the front it looks exactly as it did before, with the ridges, the crochet flower...

       ...and my vintage button.

But in the back of it now...

...I scrunched it up some. :-) I made it so that if you have a ponytail, or you want to wear the headband with your hair over it, instead of under it, you can!

I'm gonna have fun with this one I think! :-) I have to say though, this makes the crocheting of them a whole lot more work! So I don't know how many of them I'll make. What do you think of it?!

     Wheeeeeeee! ^_^

So there you go. I showed you...and I told you! :-) ... I also can tell you that my hubby is home on vacation with me. YAY!!! He's already made me breakfast in bed...grits, English muffins, bacon, and eggs, with a green tea chaser! LOL
We also stayed up late last night and I beat him in a game of Scrabble. :-) Ha! Ha!...But it was only by about 20 points! O_O He's getting better! I have to really pay attention now!!
We've got a bunch of things on our "To Do" list for the week...including reorganizing and regulating some things in our lives. I'm looking forward to having my buddy underfoot. :-]
       Okay...off I go! Have a good day Everybody!! :-)

Quick Early Sunday Morning Updates

I don't have a lot of time this morning. Our regular meeting schedule has changed and I've got to get myself ready. But I had a few things I wanted to quickly show you. One is the scarf in the header photo. I call it my 'first installment on my tax bill'. ^_^ This is the scarf I sold the other day!..."Bye, Bye Baby. I'm gonna miss you! ;'_';"
The next thing is the latest soft blue scarf I finished.....Yep! Another one! :-)
It's gonna be listed in my Wuglyees shop soon. Maybe even later today...I'm starting to think that maybe I should just make a bunch of these in this color. Everybody seems to love it!
Next...the Giveaway winner! :-) ... After mixing up the names....and then mixing them up some more!.....
Congratulations Alittlesprite!!!!...You know what to do! ^_^ ...I'll post the new Giveaway later today too. No time right now!!!.....Ooooo! NO TIME!!!! O_O
Okay....last. I've been working on a certain Tunisian stitch for a certain pillow case! :-)
I finished the center piece....YAY!!! It took FOREVER!!!!!...Then I crocheted a little border around it until it got to the right size for me to add it to the front of my pillow...

       All done! :-)

What do you think?!.....Now, if you look through the flaps in the back......you can't see through! :-)

All that's left is trying to figure out what to write...or cross stitch...onto the Tunisian stitch space now. I'm not sure a whole 'wordy' poem will fit there. Hmmmm....I'll figure it out! :-) You know me!!
Ooooo! Look at the time!!!!!! Gotta go!!....Have a good and peaceful day everybody!! :-)

Peaceful Moments

Peace is what I'm after.
No concerns to vex my head.
No disturbing complications.
No emotions to be read.

Peaceful contemplation.
Mental 'Playing in the yard'.
No 'You have to do this!" wording.
Nothing strenuous or hard.

Quiet, simple peace.
No one's problems I should fix.
No concentrated effort.
No new wrinkles in the mix.

Yes, peace is what I'm after.
Nothing pressing me 'to do'.
I want peaceful little moments.
And I'm gonna get them too!
