Wrapping It All Up!

      There were a few things that I meant to show you this week, but other stuff kept coming up...like microwave repair guys, head lamp gifts, treasuries, custom orders and owls!...Oh no, don't forget the owls! ^_^

    One of those things was this pretty cowl (in the header photo)!...

    I love everything about this cowl scarf...even though I didn't make it myself! ^_^ 'My' scarves are a completely different entity all their own compared to this one! LOL...I love the pattern, the button arrangement, and most of all...the colors! :-) Who knew that aqua gray and cream could look so pretty together!!...Hmmmm...Look for a flower boutonniere in these colors coming your way soon! ^_^

      I think it must've been the aqua green or turquoise-y color that kept getting my attention, because here are a few other things I had set aside to show you...but didn't get around to it!...

     Wrapping this post all up, let me show you my new 'in-place' microwave!! :-) ...

     And also, just so you know, there has been no more field mice sightings either!!...Of course the little plug in sonar 'mice-getter-rid-of' things that we have in the plug in sockets now could be helping!! LOL...Yes! It's probably over-kill...but that hole in the cabinet surrounded by the chewed wood pieces FREAKED ME OUT!!!!! ^_^

      Okay, I'm off to get a package wrapped, and have a nice breakfast with my honey...pancakes this morning! :-] ...We don't have a meeting this morning. Our meeting time changed. No more early Sunday morning meetings for the rest of the year for us! (Another congregation that shares our Kingdom Hall will have the morning slot.) We'll have our meeting in the afternoon now! :-]

      I do have something else to do now though...now that my other custom orders are done I mean...I've got another custom order scarf to crochet!! :-) I'm gonna get started on it today!...So I'll be sharing pictures some time this week.. :-) ...What are YOU all doing this week?!!...or the rest of the weekend?...or today?!! :-)) Whatever it is, I hope it turns out to be a great day!!

new acquaintances or kin.

A Weekend that's all planned,,
or simply finding things to do;
Because every Monday will be back
and you'll need something to look forward to!     

Show-N'-Tell...Microwave Repair Guy Style!

      Once again my schedule is all off this morning...Ugh! We're waiting for the microwave guy to come back this morning. He came yesterday, tore up the kitchen, scattered his repair and work stuff all over the floor, and then.....left to get a part that he found out he needed...or make some deadline...or something! Then, in route,  he got an emergency call (somebody got a busted water pipe or something), and had to go there instead of coming back to finish replacing our microwave install. Grrrr!
      He's coming back to finish this morning, but we're not exactly sure what time! And considering that it's already been months waiting for this microwave (it's one of those 'over the stove' install types), and having to deal with the hole, and no cooking vent, we don't dare re-schedule him!!
      The whole thing has thrown me off though! Ugh!...So, while I'm waiting I'll blog a little 'Show-N'-Tell' for you! :-)

      This is the 'Giveaway Keychain' I made the other day out of some white thread and some leftover strands I had...

       I 'really' hate to throw yarn and thread away!! ^_^ I think it came out kinda cute! :-)) Of course I would say that! ^_^ ...But what do you think?!

      I'm excited to show you this next thing!...

     This was a gift from hubby! :-) ...When he handed it to me in the pack, it didn't say what it was...Would you have known from looking at it?!....I didn't!...I said to myself: "Here he goes again!...giving me a gift that's suppose to be for ME, but it turns out to be some gadget that he knows I won't use. So it ends up being a gift that's really for him!! LOL"
      But that was not very nice thinking, because as it turns out...the gift was TOTALLY for me!! :-) ... It's a headlight to work on my crocheting at night!! :-) ...

       I just wrap the strap (above) around my head...and turn the light on!!!...

     WOW!!...So when the sun goes down early, or hubby wants to go to bed before me and the light is bothering him....

      I just put on my trusty reading headlight...
 

     ...and crochet to my hearts content!! ^_^ I can even peep up and down and check out what my Facebook friends are saying!! ^_^ ... "Thank you, honey!!" ♥ ... It's not the cutest thing I've ever worn, but I don't have to look at me, so I'm good with it!!! ^_^

      Last, I wanna show you the two white flowers I finished for a custom order yesterday....no biggie!...

      I'm gonna head over and list them in the 'Wuglyees' shop right now...while I wait for the microwave guy who is at this minute almost 25 minutes late and hasn't called!!! Ugh!...How do you get repair and delivery people to respect your time as much as they want theirs respected?!...Oh how I wish we could hand them a bill when they show up late, or don't show up at all!!...That's what the doctor and dentist's offices do!! LOL

Waiting

I'm not very good at waiting.
I've had to do too much of it.
Too many hours in the car.
Too many minutes just to sit.

I want to do it now!
What's all this waiting all about?
Too much time spent in the middle
turns my surety to doubt.

I guess it could be worth the waiting,
all this check-list, errand, chore.
Then again, that all depends
on what it is I'm waiting for.   

You Know You're Really Getting Old When......!

    No, the portrait in the header photo doesn't have anything to do with getting older. :-) It actually caught my eye because I could see the talent in the artist's color choices and drawing ability...such as I see it, not being an artist myself! :-) But it did spark a conversation between hubby and I about whether she looked like me when I was younger! :-)

     Hubby thought the portrait model reminded him of Whitney Houston, not me. ..Hmphf!...And I almost changed my schedule for our 'Friday Virtual Date Day' to take him to Tahiti or Hawaii!!...You know where we're going now, right?!...Dumpster diving!! LOL

     Anyway!!...It also sparked some further conversation about how you can know when you're getting old. We listed 10, but trust me...unfortunately there were plenty more!! ^_^ ...I'll share the 10 with you while I share some of the photos from a recent treasury my shawl was listed in...

How do you know when you're really getting old?

1. When your sometimes working reading glasses are the only thing between you and the old lady squint that your grandmother used to have!

2. When every time you make a move, it now is accompanied by a noise...that surprising YOU made!!

3. When elbow wrinkles and dark liver spots become interesting conversation.

4. When the only counting you want to do involves gray hairs and crow's feet lines.

5. When being "regular" doesn't have anything to do with a personality trait, a gym schedule, or a midday nap?...But it 'does' involve fiber, green vegetables and water!

6. When your sure and cool gait, or strutting walk, reverts to that of a wobbly baby, slows down, and includes fear of bumping into things, or not having something to hold onto!

7. When talk of "strays" doesn't involve feral cats, but instead a pair of tweezers and nose clippers.

8. When a room full of contented elderly people at lunchtime looks more like a field full of cows chewing their cud.

9. When there's more hair on the top of your knuckles and toes than there is on the top of your head!

10. When getting out of bed in the morning is motivated more by having to feed the cat, or having to go to the bathroom, than the excitement of your day's schedule.

       And 'this' old 'Wug' lady being who she is, you probably know how much I wanna go back to bed and get another "nap" right now!! ^_^ But I won't!...I've got some crocheting to do, and some more conversation to have with my hubby. I'm gonna give him a chance to re-talk about that header photo!

      Maybe in the time I've been writing this post he's given it a little bit more thought, and now thinks...in retrospect...she looks an awful lot like me when I was young. He probably doesn't know how he didn't see it before!! LOL...Yeah, I know Tahiti will have a lot to do with his change of mind, but whatever!! He'll get what he wants, and I'll get what I want!! ^_^ After 30 years, what more could two old people want?!!

Everything Is Getting Older

Everything is getting older,
past it's time, and rusting fast!
No matter how many times you oil it,
Somehow, still, it doesn't last.

Everything is getting older.
Even veggies just from the store,
have now browned and withered up.
They're not all shiny like before.

Everything is getting older.
Old dogs included, people too.
Even babies, from the womb,
start getting older, just past brand new!

Everything is getting older,
like real good books, with tales all told.
But, Wait a minute! Some books are good!
That's why "To read" will not get old.

Everything that's getting older
doesn't harm us and displease.
Just think of wisdom in the aging-
that's with people and with cheese!

All the things, those getting older,
showing marks and scars of time,
just need a tad bit more attention,
or just a small aged glass of wine!

'Stream Of Consciousness' Morning!

       I love it when artists depict exactly what I'm thinking and feeling, without even knowing that they're depicting what I'm thinking and feeling! ^_^ And this artist was right 'on it' this morning!...I woke up and wanted to stick my nose out the door and see what 'THIS' day was gonna bring!

      Yesterday we had cold, a wind chill factor, and wind!.....Today......after sticking the chicken beak out.....we have cold, a wind chill factor (of 1!!! Ugh!), and NO wind!....Hmmmm...I see a kind of pattern developing here! LOL

     Since I don't want to turn into a bitter weather forecaster, I've decided to put a positive spin on the morning! :-) ...

     Yum!!...My green tea with lemon is tasting so good this morning!!...Maybe it's because I know I can't get a cup of coffee! LOL Well, I 'could' get a cup, but I'd have to send my hubby out into the eye of 'The Hawk'!! ^_^

      The truth is that he 'is' gonna have to go out there...just not right now! ^_^ One of my custom orders is requiring some colors I don't have in the house right now...Blueberry! :-)  He's my 'runner'!! LOL 

       I'm gonna be making one of my ribbed scarves for a customer. She wants it in alternating colors of 'country blue' and 'blueberry'. I'm actually looking forward to it because I haven't made anything but flower boutonnieres and brooches for a while! :-) ... I love that the customer did a whole image for me, based on the similar scarf that's now in the shop (Wuglyees)...

       :-) I love my customers!!

      Before I do the scarf though, I have some boutonnieres to do....a few! I have to replace the pink and purple ones that just sold, and a couple of other colors for repeat customers to have access to...Don't I sound all entrepreneurial?!! ^_^

      Look at my fingernails!!! O_O How do I end up with 9 fingernails looking just fine, and then there's always that 'wonky' renegade fingernail that wants to be different....the one that wants to explore the world of raggedy?!! LOL...Oh well, I guess that's just how 'my' morning is going!! ^_^...

 You Ever Have A Day?

You ever have a day when everything you do goes wrong?
When every hour in the day seems very very long?

You ever have a day when everything you say that's right....
gets misconstrued and turned around and people wanna fight?!

You ever have a day that if you think of it again...
just makes your body quiver and you want the thought to end?

You ever wanna fix things, but you couldn't find a way...
even though you'd said that 'Things will be different today!'?

Well, that was me, and I am thankful that was yesterday!

     We woke up this morning to 24 degrees (Fahrenheit), with a wind chill factor of 4!!!...meaning it's 24 degrees outside, but it feels like 4!...Brrrrrr!...And to add insult to C-O-L-D injury, it's also windy! Well, 'breezy'...or so they call it! :-)) But whatever you call it, TRUST ME you don't want 4 degrees wind chill factor 'breezing' or 'blowing' past you here in New England at this time of year!!! ^_^ Everyone in this area knows 'that' winter wind!...or "The Hawk" as they call it!

       Not even dogs, who usually love sticking their head out of moving car windows,  like sticking their head out in that wind!! LOL...or should I say 'breeze'?!...

      So what does the 'Wug' household do on windy days with a wind chill factor too low to go out?!....Hubby makes soup, we eat leftover frosted carrot cake with pineapples (hubby made that yesterday! ^_^), we rejoice that hubby's unemployment compensation didn't go 'over the fiscal cliff' LOL, and I crochet like a mad woman!!...My boutonniere sales, even after the normal shopping season for this time of year, are still on-going...YAY!!! :-) {Last year at this time you could hear crickets rubbing their hind legs together in my bone quiet shop!! LOL}

     Yep! I'll be crocheting!!! What else do you do when everyone knows it's windy...besides laugh at people trying to be cool in the 'breeze'...while they're walking down the street holding onto their dog, their skirt, their umbrella?!! ^_^

Sense Of Humor

How do you gauge a sense of humor?
Is it just about a laugh?
Do you only know you're funny
when they're doubled up, in half?

Can a chuckle or a giggle
be a clue that you have wit?
Or can a smile and a head shake
be the quiet proof of it?

It's the people that are laughing,
in their house, their yard, their car.
That can spot a sense of humor;
recognize it from afar.

I don't know myself.
I just know what makes me smile.
Anyone who likes themselves
and can be talking for a while.

And if they make me wanna sit
and wonder what will they say next,
then they have a sense of humor
cuz I wouldn't be here unless...

       No, my search today is a search for brain cells!! LOL I'm gonna need to wrangle as many of them together as I can, for the next two months or so, to help me remember that this is a new year!...*It's not 2012.....It's not 2012....ANY MORE!!* ^_^

      Oh, my poor checkbook!!... ^_^ ...It's gonna end up with so many scratched out numbers in it!!! I'm gonna be writing 2012 everywhere...I just know it!! LOL...Come on!!!! Am I the only person that does this?! O_O And don't try to humor me with your sympathetic pat on my brainless back either!! LOL

       2013.......2013.......2013!!!!....I don't care how many times I say it. I know what's gonna happen...*Thank you brain for being menopausal and 50 something!! Grrrrr!*...I'm gonna be right in the middle of writing a check for some bill or something....and yes I 'do' still write checks!! ^_^ I'm not an "online-do-everything" type of girl!...not yet anyway! LOL...and my brain is gonna say: "2012....Uhhhh....2012.....wait!....1912...2003....2113.....Ugh!!!!" LOL Then I'm not gonna be able to remember how to count...or say my name!!! ^_^

       I probably really should jump on into the online banking thing. After all...they put the date on everything automatically for you, right?!....*blink, blink*...but my brain says: "No, don't do that!! O_O Then "they" will have all of your information, they'll know where you live, where you shop, where you go to buy your chocolates, and the world as you know it....the tucked in numbers world I mean...will end in a flame of confused and limping brain cells....all YOURS!!! LOL

      Whatever!!! LOL...Maybe the search for good working brain cells is already a lost cause!! ^_^ Maybe I'll just search for a new checkbook instead! ^_^ ...These three could be possibilities...

     Okay, let's face it.....choosing even a checkbook with these brain cells today may be a stretch!! LOL And apparently my customers trust that this is true...because they're still buying my boutonnieres! :-) I sold both of these last night!...
