Soooooooo...He Passed The Test!...And I Went With The Flower!

       Woohoo!!...There were two things on my mind on my 'yawn-fest' of a blog post yesterday. One thing was that my husband was taking a special driving test, in order to get a license to drive a special kind of bus or van. He 'crammed' for it all weekend! And today...HE PASSED IT!! :-) Again I say: Woohoo!! ^_^
        I'm so excited for him!...although it's gonna mean that he's not here at home with me as much as before. :-( Hey!...Somebody's gotta work around here!! I need to be kept in the ice cream, grits, and potatoes that I've become accustomed to!!Ha! Ha!

     I've also become accustomed to crocheting my brains out! So, I guess yarn would also be on the list of things we might be able to afford soon! :-) Although, I'm not doing so badly finding projects to make, using the yarn I still have around here! ^_^ Case in point, remember the 100% cotton red tote bag I was trying to decide whether to attach a ribbon or a flower to?...

      I decided to go with the flower! ^_^
 

      ...And remember the before mentioned mint green yarn. The yarn I made the mittens and the scarf out of?!... 
 

       Hubby took a few photos of them out in the backyard yesterday...after the rainy skies cleared....I love the photos!...even though they're LOADED with contradiction!! I mean, there's no snow on the ground, but Tina is mittened to the max (not to mention that they almost look like oven mitts too!! ^_^ WHATEVER!!!!), and she's scarfed up to her headless neck! :-))
      It's also not lost on me that wearing a light-weight stringed dress along with mittens and a thick scarf is just fraught with contradiction!! ^_^ The kind of contradiction that makes you wanna scrap the photos, put Tina in a winter Parka, twist off her mitted hands, and start all over again! ^_^ 
      But...Hey!!...I'm Poetesswug, crazy-girl crocheter, poet, lover of country music and Motown, and wife to a loving non-professional photographer who took loads of these photos just so that I could find three that would work for me. I'm NOT beyond contradiction!! ^_^
       

      Besides...Tina looks cool!!! ^_^ Why mess with 'cool-mint-green-contradiction'!! ^_^ Have a good rest of the day, Everybody!! ♥

Eclectic Tastes

I've got eclectic tastes.
Yes I do! That's what I said!
I'm not afraid of being different,
Country raised and city bred.

If it's pretty, then I'm in,
but just as fast I can be out,
because I don't like what the hoopla
about some things is all about!

I think different can be cool,
in many colors, not just white.
And not just worn by 'one person',
with a body shape just right.

It's good to have 'eclectic' tastes,
and to just be who 'you' are!
But be careful, because 'eclectic'
quickly can become 'Too Far'!!

Heat Wave.....'Sweet' Wave!!!! LOL

     It almost looks like candy, doesn't it?...the brooch in the header photo, I mean! ^_^ Maybe it's just me! LOL I 'have' had candy on the brain today! You can blame hubby for that though. He bought a little bag of 'Mary Jane's' last night, and I started down 'memory road' as soon as I saw him eating them! :-)
      I think I told you guys a while back about the little neighborhood store that was down the lane from where I lived as a little girl. The store where we would go almost every morning before school and buy penny candy! Ummmmmmm! :-) Oh! The 'hot balls', 'pixie stix', 'squirrel nuts', 'Mike 'N Ikes', etc.....!!!!!! ^_^
       ANYWAY!!!! LOL Hubby gave me one or two, or eight, of his peanut buttery caramel 'Mary Janes'...Ummmmmmmm!...and all is now well! :-) Except that everything in the house is starting to look sweet and delicious!! LOL
      Now what was I talking about?! O_O ... Oh Yeah! My now finished crochet tote bag!! ^_^  ...
 

     Don't look at the photos too closely. They're not very good! But, in my defense, it's very hard to make deep green look good!...especially in yarn!...No matter how I laid it, propped it up, or positioned it...it still didn't get proper justice. O_O 
 

     And I'm actually very happy with this one! :-] I put a lot of love into this bag. It has a sewn on flower, button, and beaded 'candy-style' brooch! :-) And it's actually two whole totes crocheted one inside the other!...instead of settling for a flimsy tote with no lining! Even the handle straps are doubled! It's a very substantial and soon-to-be-practically-used-by-someone tote! ^_^

     And no sooner did I finish it than another project was in the works!! :-) ...
 

     My girlfriend brought me a bag of yarn that was given to her by her aunt, and I got started on a gift scarf for her right away! :-) You always should show yourself thankful when someone gives you something fabulous for FREE, right?!!! ^_^
 

     And if somebody out there wants to give me a bag of penny candy for free....Oooooo! Just watch me be thankful!!...or in a sweaty sugar coma!....(We're in the midst of a minor heat wave here in Massachusetts right now.).....Whichever comes first! ^_^

Candy Rhyme

It's not right...I know,
to start your day with a chocolate face;
But the M&Ms with peanuts
gave my dream such a lovely taste.

It got me really thinking
about the candies of my youth,
like "Pixie Stix" and "Twizzlers",
WOW! I had such a big 'Sweet Tooth'!

I remember in the playground,
trading candy like a stock.
It's a wonder you never hear
of kids going into "candy shock"!

'Hershey's with almonds',
'Kit Kats' and 'Peanut Bars';
Chocolate 'Reese's cups',
'3 Musketeers' and 'Mars'.

'Pay Days', 'Sugar Babies',
'Nestle's Crunch' and 'Heath Bars' too;
'York Peppermint patties',
because hard candies just won't do.

'Snickers', 'Milky Way',
'Butterfinger', Raisinets';
All that chocolate, good for me,
but not good for household pets!

'Twix', 'Reese's Pieces',
'Almond Joy', and Oh Yeah!, 'Mounds';
'Tootsie Rolls' and 'Whoppers'
I could eat them by the pounds!

'Dove Bar', 'Now or Laters',
'Laffy Taffy', 'Zagnut', 'Skor'.
Okay, I'm gonna stop now,
but there's plenty, plenty more!

Now that I'm grown up
I don't eat candy all the time.
Instead, I have sweet dreams of it,
and write a candy rhyme!

A Scarf?.....On Date Night?!!!

      Like most Fridays,  all day I've been preoccupied with my 'virtual' trip with my Honey Bear for tonight's date. ♥ {Uhhhh...'Honey Bear' would be my husband of 33 years, for those who are not regulars to my blog! ^_^} We're planning a trip to a spa! :-) ...Well, it's more 'my' choice than his! ^_^ I needed some 'primping' and stuff! ^_^  But he's game. And besides, he needs a haircut...sooooo, as he puts it: "Why not!" LOL

       But I had a crochet request from a friend before I got completely into 'date night' mode! :-) She asked me to make a scarf for her little boy. Apparently he lost his other one. :-( And the temperatures around here lately have been brutal! In the single digits and stuff! Brrrrrr!

      You might not be able to tell from my bad photos!.. ^_^ ...but the colors of the scarf are country blue...

      ...and red!...

      You'll just have to take my word that it looks much better in person! :-) ...
 

      It's a half-and-half type scarf!...
 

      I had to put a rush job on it...I didn't wanna be late catching the 'virtual' plane outta here! My hairy chin and knuckles will not wait!!! LOL

      I hope you're smiling...as I am...looking at this cute crochet hat! :-) Not that I have any stake in whether it gets sold or not! :-)) Although, for this shop's sake, I hope it does!! I just like the hat! ^_^

       Okay...I like the hat AND the model's smile. :-) Her smile seems to be saying: "Don't you think I'm cute?!!!!" And the hat seems to be saying" "I'm so cute you just have to buy me, right?!!" LOL And, on both counts, I have to say: "Yes!" ^_^ Of course the second 'yes' has a caveat....and that is that I would buy it IF I could afford to!! ^_^

       Well...if I could afford to, and if I could get rid of the thought in my head that if I just applied myself a little I could make a hat sorta like this myself!! ^_^ Mine would probably have a lot more colors added to it!! LOL You know me and my color restraint!! ^_^

       Are any of you out there in blog-land crochet hat wearers?!...I mean, would you wear a hat like this one?!...I love the crocheted rope-like strands hanging down. They almost look like they could be hair braids! :-) It's one of the cuter items I saw in my Etsy activity feed today.

      I love a great wedding gift idea, and I think this is one!! It would be perfect for the 'best man' or the 'ring-bearer'! And, of course, it would be a great wedding favor to have at everyone's seat at the reception too!! :-) What a great little gift reminder!! In fact, it might keep reminding your friends about your anniversary for years!!!! ^_^

      Okay...moving on from Etsy cuteness... :-) ...I wanna give a big "WHOOP! WHOOP!" to my husband for making some unusual and surprisingly good noodle soup for dinner last night! ^_^ He made it in the crock pot (slow cooker), and in a way that I would never have tried!...And I have to be honest, I was leery about what it would taste like when he told me the ingredients! O_O It included the usual things you put in noodle soup, but with a twist. It had no chicken! 

      It had cubed beef, chicken broth, pepper flakes, egg noodles, and regular white potatoes!! O_O The unusual part was not the spiciness, and not the beef either. It was the combination of what I perceived to be 'starchy' noodles and 'starchy' potatoes together!! O_O I was sure it was gonna be a clumped up gluten-ny mess!! LOL But it wasn't!! :-)

      He added extra chicken broth and it turned out to be very delicious!!!...Sorry beef and chicken. I know you're both not birds of a feather. In fact, one of you is not even a bird at all!! ^_^ ... but.....hey! "Moo, Moo, Cluck, Cluck!" LOL

      Before I head off to take my nap, let me show you two other items I finished yesterday...and there was not a black scarf among them!! LOL...

      This scarf is made with a combination of virgin wool and "crimp" nylon!! :-) ...
 

      I made it by crocheting three strands together of some fingering weight yarn that was given to me a long time ago. I kept saving it for a 'special' project.....that just never came along!...until now that is! ^_^ The patch of green on the end of one side...my creative flare!...was really just a last minute decision because I ran out of the other yarns!! LOL But hubby loves it like that!! :-)
      And of course I had to put a flower brooch pin on it too!! :-) And that was 'on purpose'!! ^_^ ... Just so you know that I'm not forgetting about the four black scarves I have to make, I'll have you know that I'm about half way through a black crochet brooch pin right now!! ^_^
      Okay...truth!...My skeins of black yarn apparently got burned a little by a lamp bulb, or a heater vent, or something!!! Aargh! They have a patch of changed color....reddish brown now!...on the end of the skeins. O_O I would have to keep cutting and pasting every time the color came out of the skein...UGH!...and I'm not in the mood for all of that!! So I have to wait until payday so I can get some more black yarn. 
       AIN'T THAT ALWAYS THE WAY!!!!...I mean, I have a kabillion skeins of yarn...of all different kinds...in this house, but NO BLACK!...in good condition I mean!!! LOL No worries though, I'll FIND something to crochet until payday!!! ^_^

I wish I was a seahorse

I wish I was a seahorse;

      Good Morning! :-) And yes...I do know that some of you are waaaaaay past morning! But just indulge me a happy 'good morning' just for today, will ya! ^_^ I slept good. My sister's coming to visit today. And I wanna generally be in a good mood today, to counteract the two 'not so good' days I had prior to now!

      The weather is not gonna cooperate with me today, I don't think! It's freeeeeeezing outside! It's in the 20s!! Brrrrr! Thankfully there's still no snow on the ground...yet though. Although there 'is' snow on the ground in the south! O_O I saw on the news that North Carolina and Virginia got snow yesterday!!! WOW! This weather really is wacky!!...Pretty!...but wacky!...

      Maybe we should all be dogs. Then it wouldn't matter what the weather was doing! ^_^ I say that because of the news report about the first dog to climb Mt. Everest! He was with his owner, walking and climbing that mountain, and wagging his tail, as if he was in the Caribbean about to go surfing in the noonday sun!! LOL...

I Only Have Time To Show You My Blue!

      I don't have a lot of time this morning...and frankly, I'm trying to get the blog up before something else happens!! My connection from my server was out for quite a while. It just came back on and I'm playing "Beat The Clock"! LOL So, if you're seeing my post today....I WON!!! ^_^

     I have a few things on my schedule to do today, so I'm not gonna do too much talking....Stop Clapping! LOL...I'm just gonna show you the blue things I've been working on. First...the new blue hat!...

         As you can see, I also crocheted a blue flower for it. It's not attached though. Just pinned on. I've decided not to attach flowers permanently to the hats...so customers can use the flower as a scarf or coat accessory if they want to.

       Speaking of scarves... :-)

       I made a blue matching circle scarf to go with the hat...

       I'm all finished with it now, but I still need to have Mr. Wug take some pictures of it on Tina.

      I'll show those to you when he gets to it. But today it's more hats!! ^_^ And more tennis!! ^_^ Tennis is making me very productive. It's keeping me offline a bit, and my hands are in constant motion....Sooooo....GOOD! LOL

       During one of the lulls of the computer I also made this flower too!...

         It's still in want of a button, so I'll be on the hunt for one for it today too...

       Okay!....That's all I got today! :-) Check back tomorrow. Maybe I'll have some other color...or something!...to show you then......If my internet server still exists, and my brain can snatch itself away from the tennis tournament. LOL Seeing as neither of those things will stop me from talking.....count on there being something here tomorrow! ^_^
