Here in Holyoke we're expecting to be rained out for a couple of days. And so are a number of other states along the east coast...AGAIN! Apparently we're getting some remnants of Storm 'Lee' that hit the New Orleans and surrounding areas pretty bad over the weekend. Truthfully...they just didn't need any more water issues to worry about! :-(
Also, there's a huge six mile wide wildfire in Texas right now!
It's so big that I saw an alert on Facebook last night begging fire-fighters to come and help!...And they have numerous other fires going on all at the same time too! Some of them can only be fought from the air!...*shaking my head*...Stay safe everybody!!
In our local area there was another bit of bad news too...The first person diagnosed {on August 27th} with the EEE virus (Eastern Equine Encephalitis)...{that humans get through the bite of the summer mosquito}...died yesterday. :-( ...With wonderful news like this, from here and all over the world, it almost makes you wanna run from the T.V. screaming, doesn't it?!!
And if it was ALL bad news...we probably would! But there was also some good news!...There was a 21 foot long crocodile caught in the Phillipines!! Apparently it had been terrorizing a village!
And if it was ALL bad news...we probably would! But there was also some good news!...There was a 21 foot long crocodile caught in the Phillipines!! Apparently it had been terrorizing a village!
{Although the claims that there's still another one loose, one larger than this one, may make the news of this one's capture kinda hollow!....NOTE TO SELF: Scratch the Phillipines off of your 'Friday Date Night' list for a while! ^_^}
More good news.... The US Tropical Storm map is showing that hurricane 'Katia' looks like she's gonna make the turn away from us! YAY!!!! :-) They're not giving us the 'All Clear' just yet, but they're pretty sure what track she's on.
AND my hubby's sunflowers survived the wind and rain from last week...and they're going to seed!
Since me and the backyard, with it's allergic-enducing plants and flowers...and it's EEE carrying mosquitoes {just saying!}...don't get along, hubby brought one of them inside for me to take a look at. It was H-U-G-E!!!
And it was so cool that I could see the individual little sunflower seeds in the head of it!! He popped one out so I could hold it!
The seed was HUGE too!...Do they get smaller when they dry?!...I guess I'll find out! :-) In the meantime, I'll keep hubby and his giant plants outside where they belong!!!...
Shortly after his coming in the house to show me his sunflower, I ended up with a pile of tissues from blowing my nose...and I had to take a nap! A nice LONG nap!...Once I got up I saw that he was still in the backyard. And wait until you see the photos I caught from the window of what else he was doing!! :-) I'll show you those tomorrow.
In the meantime, tennis has been fabulous! All of my regular players that I like to root for (Federer, Nadal, Murray, Tsonga, Roddick, etc...) are all still in it...except one. :-( I was so sad that Marty Fish and Wilfried Tsonga had to play each other last night. They're both so good that I hoped they'd both be in the tournament until the end. But no...Tsonga won their match last night and Marty had to say goodbye. Oh Well...there's always next year Marty!
Also, YAY for Wuglyees!! I spent quite a bit of time in the shop yesterday, changing the SEO tags on my scarves. I didn't realize that my tagging was not sufficient enough to get them seen. And then, just on a whim because I didn't have anything else to do before I went to bed, I decided to check the shop to see if I had gotten any more views. And lo and behold...not only views, but I made two sales!!! :-)
These two 'babies' are off to the big city!! :-)
I'm so excited!!! Not just for the sales, but also because apparently my SEO work isn't in vain! It's really getting results this time! :-)
And last, but not least today, remember I told you that I hate doing linings?! Well, I gave my YoYo bag to a friend, for her to put a lining in it for me. {I'm gonna crochet something for her in return. She apparently didn't want my money! :-)} And she finished it!! As soon as she brings it back, and I take some photos, I'll show it to you. And then it's going in the Wuglyees shop for sale!! :-)
Speaking of which, this brought my sales total in the shop up to 148. Whoever buys the 150th item will also get a scarf from the shop for FREE!! They get to choose which one they'd like! I thought I'd just let you know that! :-)
And, speaking of FREE,.....okay! So the last thing wasn't really the last thing...yet! ^_^...don't forget to enter the GIVEAWAY for my crochet dangle necklace. The simple rules are HERE! The drawing will be on September 15, 2011.
Okay, that's it for real this time! LOL Except for the poem!....Have a good day Everybody!! :-)
You Probably Don't Care!
I know you probably don't care,
but I will tell you anyway!
I mean, I have to talk about it.
It's what I do most every day!
I know you have your own things going,
and my things? You could care less.
But I have to spill it, talk,
share, converse, chat, or confess.
Don't you have some days like that,
when you just 'let down your hair'?
Well, today was that for me,
and it's okay if you don't care!
WOW...that's one HUGE Sunflower!
ReplyDeleteAND congrats on all those sales...not sure why I don't get many sales...can you help me with my tags?
I know...this World and the weather is scary...poor poor people who have been loosing their homes to floods and fires...I couldn't imagine!
HUGS and oh..."ENTER ME"
Char.x
Huge Sunflower and HUGE alligators! Whoa! I actually don't watch the tv at all and haven't watched the news since the beginning of 2010. It has changed my life!! I'm so happy without it and highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your sales! Yay!!!
I also saw that you made a comment on one of my blog posts, but now it's not there! I don't know what happened to it!
Have an awesome day! Oh, yes, ENTER ME! :)
Sorry I've not been passing through for a while, been a little busy, but having a break from decorating, my arms ache too much!! Hope you and hubby are keeping ok.
ReplyDeleteGreat sunflowers, not seen any that big before!! also congrats on your sales, the scarfs are gorgeous :)
Bee happy x
Have a delicious day!
Enter me!
We Blog Artists, :-)) You're so right! It was huge!!...And if you want help with your tags I'd be happy to share what I learned, but I am by no means an SEO expert. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! LOL Just give me a link to your shop and I'll see what I can tell...Looking in your shop has got to be more fun than looking at the news right now!!...And I entered you in the GIVEAWAY too! :-)
ReplyDeletebtaylor, I agree about the sunflower...and the alligator! :-] And as to the news, you sound sorta like me back a few years ago. My father used to say that if there was anything 'silly' on TV I'd be watching it! LOL He said that because I got to a point where I wouldn't watch anything that had a serious tone to it...including the news! But since I've become a Bible student, and know what's going on in the world, I'm not afraid of it anymore. I sometimes don't LIKE it!! But I realize that 'some' knowledge is power! {For instance...knowing when a hurricane is coming...and to what area!} And also it helps me to be more sympathetic and informed about the world. Otherwise my life would be more 'ALL ABOUT ME' than it is right now!!! ^_^ ...By the way, I don't know what happened to the comment! O_0 It wasn't me!!...And you're entered in the GIVEAWAY! Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteBee happy, No problem about the passing through. I know you'll stop when you can. :-] ...And I agree about the sunflowers! I didn't know if they were suppose to be that size or not, but they certainly are huge! I guess hubby has a GIANT 'green thumb'! ^_^ Thanks for the nice words about the scarves and the sales too!...And you're entered!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, look at those sunflowers! I've seen them plenty of times from afar but never close up. Those seeds are awesome! Your husband should be proud of those amazing flowers. Have you seen many birds dining on the seeds? I know chickadees, cardinals, nuthatches and titmice LOVE sunflower seeds.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the 2 scarf sales. They are beautiful!
Let's hope the extreme weather conditions exit for a mild fall. It's been a difficult summer weather-wise.
Julie, Aren't they humongous?!!...And no! As far as we can tell, no birds are dining on them. Not yet anyway! Maybe they're waiting for them to dry out! :-))...Thanks for the nice words about the scarves too!...As to the weather, I would forgo 'mild' for simply a little sunshine instead of rain for a while...A girl can dream! :-) You have a good day though!
ReplyDeleteDeb, congratulations on your recent sales. The sunflower is huge and very pretty even though it's beginning it's drying stage. It's extremely dry over in our neck of the woods and we also have fires that are raging. I will just pray for all of those that are in the path of the destruction. I like the poem, I guess we all have days like that. Have a great day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSnowflakeDreams1, Hello Velma! How've you been?! And you be safe too, with the fires and everything!! O_0...Thanks for the nice words about the sales and the poem. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Lisa, I couldn't believe how large they were either! And I don't know if you could tell from my photo, but the seeds are pretty huge too!...Thanks for the encouragement about the sales also. And YES!! Let's keep this thing going...by all means! :-) For your shop too!

ReplyDeletedelia, They really are terrible! Lately I seem to be talking a lot about the bad weather. Hopefully 'Fall' will give me something good to talk about! ^_^ Oooo! I hope you share what your son's sunflower looks like! Is his as big as these too?!...Thanks for the nice encouragement about the sales too...Yoyo bag coming soon :-) Have a good week Dee!!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sales Wug!!! I'm so happy for you! I hope they keep coming!!!
What a great day this has been! You deserve a bit of good news for a change. :)
CinLynn, They really are gorgeous, aren't they?!...
ReplyDeleteHubby says: "Thank you Cindy. I'm gonna save some and plant a bigger crop next year and send some to you...if the birds don't eat all the seeds before I get to 'em! ^_^"
Thanks for the encouragement about the sales too...and your help in showing them off for me! I hope you're having as good a day as I am!! :-)
Whaaat. I had no idea that sunflower seeds were arranged like that!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be great if all the super wet states could send their rain to Texas? What a horrible summer they've had. I have to tell you about the beautiful blanket I won last year from you..it has gone to a new home. My niece had her baby Aug.23rd and when I went home this past weekend I gave it to her. She went nuts over it..she just loves it! I told her where I got it and she couldn't believe anyone could give away something so beautiful after putting in all the time to create it. So thanks for making her so happy! Have a great week Deb!
ReplyDeleteThea, ^_^ Neither did I!!! But I saw it myself...They are!! :-)
ReplyDeleteyaya, That absolutely would be great!! In fact I saw on TV that some Texans were disappointed that Storm Lee didn't hit Texas like they thought it was going to. That would have solved everybody's problem!...Oh Well! As we know, nothing in this system of things happens that easily!...And Awwwww! Thank you so much for telling me about my 'baby going off to a new home!! :-] I'm so glad she liked it! It makes me very happy to know that something I made is being appreciated like that. Thanks to you for letting me know!! :-) And have a good rest of the day too!
ReplyDeleteBig sunflower!

Priscila, It 'is' a big sunflower, isn't it?!! And it has big allergy-inducement too! LOL...Thanks for the comment. You're entered in the GIVEAWAY too! :-)
