Shanna Murray and Abby Powell collaborated on a June calendar. Abby did the photo, and Shanna put the lyrics to her favorite song on it. I love the look of it and...being, as I am, a Poet who loves photography...I love the idea of song words and photos sharing the same space. :-) Good job guys!!! :-)
Speaking of song words, I seem to have gotten into a weekend habit lately of sharing music and movies I like. I don't know how long this is gonna last, but for now I'm having fun with it! :-] Somehow every time I share one song or movie, another one pops into my head that I love...or loved! Today is no exception.
So...as I'm already humming and all about music this morning!...I'd like to share some old and some new, in the way of music and a movie, with you. I heard this song for the very first time yesterday and...I am in love!! It kinda reminded me of the 'Diana Ross and the Supremes' generation. (If you like 'Motown-type' music, and you're into a song with a good dance beat, you'll love this one as much as I do!) It's by Estelle. It's called Pretty Please, Love Me.
I love a good girl singer!!! And listening to Estelle reminded me of another girl singer I loved a long time ago, in a movie a lot of you may know already. The movie is To Sir With Love, with Sidney Poitier. The singer is Lulu.
I hope you're in as good a mood as me after you listen to these. :-) Let me know what you think and if you're tired of my music-mania on the weekends...Doesn't mean it'll stop, but maybe I can compromise about how MUCH I share....maybe!!! LOL
I'm looking forward to enjoying the rest of my day too. I've got a breakfast date with hubby, and...a bit later...a meeting to attend, so I can keep my spiritual balance. Then I'm going to go back to work on my new crochet project...I'll show you what I'm working on tomorrow...and show you some flowers hubby has coming up in the garden too. YES, actual flowers this time!! :-)
Have a good Sunday everybody!! (Or whatever day it is where you live!) :-)
Nostalgic
Why do we get nostalgic
for the places of our past?
For the music and the people
who were in our high school class?
Why do we get nostalgic
for the foods we used to eat?
Like your mom's banana pudding,
boiled pig ears and chicken feet?
Why do we get nostalgic
for old bikes we once rode on?
And for buying penny candy
at a time that's long since gone?
Why do we get nostalgic
for long conversations had
when our cousins used to visit
(That was-til we all got mad)?!
Why do we get nostalgic?
Frankly, I'm sure I don't know,
'cause I sat and wrote a poem
like a true nostalgia pro!
To Sir With Love is one of my all time favorite movies! Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Enter me
CinLynn, Mine too, Cin!! I've seen it...Oh...about a million times!! Ha! Ha! I practically know all of the lyrics...and the dance steps!...*Teehee*...Well...Maybe not 'those' dance steps!!! ^_^ I'm glad you liked my choice today. I just got my meeting. Ahhhh! Head in a good place. Serious...but not too serious. ;-] Have a good rest of the day...and you're entered!
ReplyDeleteI love that song by Lulu. To Sir With Love is one of my favourite movies too. I get all sentimental and teary (but in a good way) when I hear the song. Thank you for sharing it.
