I Think I'll Call It...UGH!

No robin stories. No 'Date Night' stories...No!!! LOL No tornado stories. And No hat stories today...But I do have a story. It's the story of 'UGH! The Yoyo Bag handle'!!! And here's the story:
One day I saw a beautiful photo of UGH!, attached to it's mama, on the blog Alittlesprite, and I fell in love!
So I sent a message to Alittlesprite, Shannon, and asked if I could have the pattern so I could make one of the gorgeous crocheted Yoyo bags, and it's handle, myself. She said yes! So, across the globe came my new project, my focus, my love.
The pattern was written simply...exquisitely. I could see she put so much time into making it easy to read. And everything went great....until....time to make what I fondly named...UGH! The handle.
It 'seemed' simple enough! Chain these many, single crochet these many rows, BAM! You're done!.
But then I couldn't figure out how to attach it!! Was it suppose to be like the handle on a pitcher of lemonade? Or just be like a hanging handle, for decoration?! Or like a section of padding on your shoulder so you could carry it properly?...Fascinating questions, right?! LOL
I read the pattern over and over...and over and over...and over some more. But, as there were no photos of the handle part up close, I couldn't figure out how to attach it! This is when I decided to name it! Grrrr!...And this is also where I decided that it didn't matter where the handle was attached....I wanted to be DONE with it....NOW!!!!
So, UGH! was put in the place that I thought it would best be used...if I ever want to look at it again, that is!! LOL
Yeah....I know!!!...UGH!...
...A story about the handle on a crochet Yoyo bag! ^_^ {Oh why, oh why, couldn't you just be a 'blanket'?!!!!}...Silly...frustrating....just wanted to share!. Don't you feel special, being put in my 'frustration loop'?!...Just wait until you get to read about the sequel, "Arghhhhh! The Lining"!...And now, you know what comes next?!...THE END!!! ^_^
Well, not exactly the end...yet! On this blog the end sometimes comes with music. But always comes with a poem...Have a good weekend Everybody!!! :-)

Blankets Of Love

I make blankets, in my own time;
putting love in every stitch;
I let no one rush the process;
I'm not concerned with getting rich.

Crocheting brings about a calm
that nothing else quite seems to do;
I get such joy from choosing patterns,
and from choosing colors, too.

The more intricate-the better;
that gives me much more time to think,
'cause I slow down, so I can read it
keeping brain cells in the pink.

Just the steady, jutting motion
of my needle's in and out
makes me remember who its for,
and what the pattern's all about.

I made a blanket for my sister,
with kittens crocheted all around;
and another one, for Tammy,
with her name written up and down.

I made a special one last year.
(made lovingly-to give away)
It marked the 20 years of love
that we remembered on that day.

We threw a party for our friends;
We had good food, and dancing too;
and on the blanket, it was written:
'Roses are red, violets are blue'.

That was a special blanket;
but special is always what I say
'cause I put the time into them
so that they won't easily fray.

They are blankets made with love
that I'm proud of-from 'chain one';
To watch the faces of receivers
is, without doubt, half the fun.

So-if I ever make a blanket
for your anniversary,
or your wedding, or engagement,
here's the thought you'll have from me:

That 'I love you very much,
and making it was fun to do;'
and that 'with every single stitch
my every thought had been of you!'

    Sorry if my instructions were not so good in that bit. You just sort of halve the thinner cord...
    My bad....

  5. I love your poem! It totally describes how I feel when I make things for others. I know it sounds corny when you say that every stitch is filled with love but I really believe it is.
    Your yoyo bag looks really good :)

  7. Hello your bag is looking amazing well done you even with the frustration of it, it still looks amazing ;-)) My mum is here at the moment and i am just dropping into blog land again slowly and i showed her your blanket and she loved it and we both wish you lived here so we could invite you round for afternoon tea in a ploy to get you to teach us how to do it ;-)) I didn't tell you before but when i smelt the blanket it reminded me of my nan so much. So i said to my mum ( i hadn't told her this part) smell it and she buried her face in it..i said who does it remind you of...she said mum and i said yes just what i thought and we shed a little a tear. A little magic moment indeed. Thank you so much again. I hope your well, take care, dee x

  8. delia, Well thank you for the nice complement about the bag! I'm so glad you like it! :-) And how nice would that be, if I could come over and have tea and a little crochet session!! :-) That would be nice!! Sorry about the tears part though...But I understand. Same thing has happened to me in the past. Funny how memories can be locked up in 'smells'. That makes me even more sure it went to just the right 'mama'. :-] "Hi Mum!!"...Have a good rest of the weekend with mum.

  10. CinLynn, Thank you, Bead! I'm glad to be all done with it...except for the lining I mean. I found out from Shannon earlier that I actually did the handle correctly, so I'm liking it better now. :-) See how fickle I am?! Now I may have to re-name the handle again! LOL And by the way, the weather is BEAUTIFUL here today!!! Enjoy your day too!
