Okay...on to my chitter chatter for today! ^_^ As I was watching the match yesterday, it dawned on me that soon tennis will be on the back burner again,...(the Tour De France bike race started yesterday though!...^_^...There's always something with me!! ^_^ Anyway....)...so I'd better get me a crochet project lined up!
I got my pattern bag out, and lo and behold.....
...look what was in my stash!!
It's a vintage Dritz crochet magazine...
...from 1946!!
It has some really cool patterns in it too...pocketbooks!....Hmmmm....Should my next project be a pocketbook?!...Before I started fooling around with the magazine though, I wanted to find out if it was worth anything. So.... ^_^ ...you know what's coming!....I Googled it!!! LOL And guess what?!.....WOW! It's very rare! Similar books of theirs from similar years were worth $45.00 or more!!
How cool would it be to find out that mine is even more rare than that...and that it may be my ticket to the big time?!!! ^_^ The big time being...right here where I am, but not having my hubby have to go to work! {I wanna be comfortable...not 'stupid change-your-life-from-anything-you-recognize' rich! :-)}
Okay, let me show you a few of the hats and bags that are in here!
This is a close up view of the hat and bag on the cover....cute!....But I love these ones below...
I especially like the hat and bag in this last shot!
Okay.....so maybe not so much, the hat...But I 'do' love this tubular bag!!
Should this be my next project?!....And no thinking about the fact that I still haven't put a lining in my Yo-Yo bag! ^_^
What a prize this magazine is, huh?!...And guess what? I have a whole lot more of these old magazines and books too, with tons of cool stuff to crochet in them! Over the next week or so I'll share some of them with you.
Now I'm off to wake Mr. Wug back up and get some breakfast. He woke up about a half an hour ago and shuffled across the floor to the bathroom. ^_^ It reminded me of Mr. Tudball from the Carol Burnett show!! ^_^ If you've never seen it just go to Youtube and put Tim Conway's name in the search bar and have a good time! ^_^
I thought I'd share one of my favorite skits of his with you. He's playing a dentist with a little...problem. ^_^
Enjoy.....have a little giggle....and a good Sunday! {I'll be back to my movie themes next week! ^_^}
Threw you off, didn't I?! LOL I had to put one here! If not, it'll just back me up for the next few weeks! ^_^
Enjoy your day everybody!!!! :-)
I Am Rich
I am rich in loving friendships.
Rich in loyalty and love.
I am rich in deep emotions,
and in my love for God above.
I am rich in complications.
Rich in insight from my years.
Rich in belly folding laughter.
Rich in sympathetic tears.
I am rich as I can be,
in things not taken in a flash.
Not all abundance can be counted.
Rich is not always in cash.
I love your "rich" poem! As for the old magazine, good for you!! I do hope they're worth something!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of seeing you crochet some bags! That would be awesome! I can't wait to see what else you have! LOL
Enjoy your meeting and your day my friend!
CinLynn, :-) Thank you, my friend. It's not a new poem, which you probably know. It's just one that fit with today's post...And I love just looking at the old magazines even. :-) Nostalgic for a time when I wasn't even born! :-)) If I made one of the bags would I be able to sell it as vintage?! :-))...You enjoy your meeting today too, Bead! :-)
ReplyDeletei absolutely LOVE that rectangular clutch. what an awesome little pattern book!
ReplyDeletethat notebook video made me a little teary... oy. i do love that movie.
and of course, your poem was fantastic as usual :) happy sunday!
I am loving those purses from the 40s! Love, love, love, love, love!
ReplyDeletes + b, I see you and I have similar taste! :-) That rectangular one, the longer one, is one of my favorites too! And so is this movie. They handled a touchy subject, Alzheimer's, in such a loving way...And thank you about the poem too! I appreciate the nice words. :-) Have a good rest of the day!
ReplyDeleteShannon, Me too! Now for the challenge...can I actually reproduce one of them by my crocheting skills?! Only time will tell!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteLOL I don't think I would want to go and visit that dentist :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful find that old crochet book is. I too like the look of that bag in the last photo. Not the hat just the bag! I could just imagine someone using that as their handbag/purse :)
Jo-anne, Ha! Ha! Nooooo! You don't want Tim Conway as your dentist!! ^_^ He's got a few "issues"!!...And I agree about the magazine. I have to be really careful with it...and the others I have too...because they're worth at least enough to pay for a couple of weeks worth of gas now!! ^_^ I may attempt making the bag. I'll have to look over the pattern really good first though...Have a good rest of the day Jo! :-)
ReplyDeleteCool book!
