I initially wanted to start this post talking only about one of the favorite things that I look forward to at the 'end' of this day...the full moon! But as I was writing it I realized that I wouldn't be "me" if I didn't tell you the story of why the whole day is special to me. And not just to 'me'!
This is a special day for many people around the world...Well, it 'will' be, starting after sundown tonight. Then it will be Tuesday, Nisan 14 on the calender, and the anniversary of the death of Jesus Christ....There will be public talks given in Kingdom Hall meeting places around the world. Jehovah's Witnesses invite any of you that wants, to meet with them and examine what makes Jesus and his sacrifice so vitally important. {Just call your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses to find out the exact time.}
I've been preparing my mind all week, reading the scriptures that follow his footsteps for each day leading up to his death. {Luke 19:29-44;...Luke 19:45-48; Matthew 21:18, 19; Mathew 21:12, 13;...Luke 20:1-47;...Luke 22:1-6; Mark 14:1, 2, 10, 11;...Luke 22:7-13; Mark 14:12-16; after sunset today --> Luke 22:14-65.}
It's the kind of day where I thought that my usual silliness...you know, my rambling stories about something hubby said, or his wonky high five...or my family or hormone issues...should not be the focus! I'm mindful today of the ransom sacrifice that was paid to give me a chance at perfect health and life, and to remove the reproach from the name of God, Jehovah...Sooooo many people don't appreciate God anymore! :-(
Hubby and I used to ride home in silence after the 'Memorial talk' (Memorial of Christ's death), just staring at the full moon that always accompanies this day...
So, later this evening, I'll be looking to the skies...and be thinking thankful thoughts...Tomorrow I'll be back to my usual chatter, because this blog is not meant for a 'preaching place'. It's the place I share what's going on with me, my crocheting, my poetry, my life! ...What kind of person would I be though, if the most important event of my year wasn't talked about?! O_O
So, forgive my indulgence if you don't approve. But if it's a reminder for others of you who may have forgotten when it was...you're welcome! :-] ... Have a good day, Everybody. And a good evening. Don't forget to look at the full moon this evening...and remember. ♥
I am breathing every morning,
moving limbs and reaching out.
And while my brain cells might be fuzzy,
of one thing I have no doubt...
I know I don't do this alone,
even though some don't agree
I know the fruit tastes good that falls,
but someone had to make the tree!
I have respect for other's views.
I don't push my beliefs on them,
but on a daily, weekly, basis,
I give all my praise to him.
Deb, thank you for the reminder. Beautiful poem. I'm glad you did this post today. It just shows us who you really are and how spiritual you are. Have a great day and evening!!! Hugs, Velma
ReplyDeleteHi Velma! And you are very welcome for the reminder. :-) I hope you're able to go tonight...Thank you for the nice words about the poem too!
DeleteHi Wug,
ReplyDeleteAs I was making the bread for our Memorial tonight (both congregations are meeting in one place this year), I was thinking about you and wondering if you'd write a blog post as this. Isn't it wonderful what Jehovah and Jesus have done for us, humans that are sinful and so undeserving! They love us so much and this is just our way of saying how much we appreciate what they did and how much we love them too. I'm really looking forward to this evening and hoping and praying that many new ones will join us for this occasion! Thanks for the post and I'll be thinking of you as well as what Jesus did for us as I look at the full moon on my way home tonight too. :)
:-) I almost didn't write this post. I was thinking about the fact that I just answered your question the other day about why we grow old and die!...But then, how could I not talk about the Memorial today?!!! :-] I'm so thankful for the sacrifice made for me. This blog post was a very, very small sacrifice!...By the way, did you see the moon?! ^_^
