Construction For The Poetess!

I talk a lot about my crocheting, but as those of you who read my blog every day know, I also write poetry. (In fact, there's a poem at the end of every single blog post I've done since I started blogging!) It dawned on me yesterday, as I was doing another blog post about the scarves I've been crocheting, that I never really talk about my poetry and how much a part of my life it really is!
My husband could tell you, because he's always picking up pieces of paper with my words, doodles, and phrases all over them and asking: "Is this important?" Usually it's not! The reason is because once it's down on paper a light goes off in my head that says: "That's the word!!!" After that the paper is immaterial!
I'm going to do a poem right now, and show you the process that usually takes place with me...I start with a subject...Whatever comes to mind, or is pushing it's way "ON" my mind.

Then I write down the things I think about when I think of that subject...Today I'm writing a poem about blogging!
Then I put down my first thought. Sometimes I do this on the computer so I don't have to keep throwing away paper!
...And just because it's my FIRST thought, doesn't always mean it'll end up being the first line of my poem. (You'll have to check out the finished poem at the end of this post to see what I mean.)
Then, as I work on it line by line, I write down rhyming words that I can choose from.
Sometimes I think of words that I need to look up the definitions for, to make sure I'm using them  correctly.
Then it's on to the next line, and more words.
When I choose words, I'm more concerned with their sound than with their spelling. Don't get me wrong, I want them spelled right, but 'right' doesn't mean that it has to be spelled exactly like the one it's suppose to be rhymed with. For instance "Bike" and "Tyke". They rhyme, but aren't spelled alike at the end. And sometimes they don't rhyme exactly at all...but they fit!
I'm sure all poets don't work like this, and that's okay! There's plenty of room in the world for "words"...All kinds of rhyming and wonderful Rhymers and their "words"!!!

Do you like the one I constructed today?! (Below)
       {Just as a wonderful side note, as I was writing this post I had my Zemanta Assistant operating. When I started to write about poetry one of the "RELATED ARTICLES" it recommended was MINE!! COOL!!! :-)) }

Logging All My Blogging

What will I talk about?
My camera's ready all the time!
Seems that everything's a subject,
whether ridiculous or sublime.

I upload all my pictures;
Head my post with one I like.
Put the title in the spot
that makes my story come to life.

Then I start the easy part,
talking til my face turns blue!
A little humorous bit of 'ME'!
(Is this what other bloggers do?)

After all my work is done,
and all my photos fit right in,
Then I hit to "Publish Post",
Well, first a "Preview", and a grin.

All that's left is constant checking.
Does anybody even care
that I'm nervous what they think,
and that my heart's all just 'Out There'?!

In the end, I have to like it!
Because it's done, won't hit "Undo"!
It's all fun and being me!
I leave the comments now to "YOU"!

  5. You just summed it up :-) Too bad I am horrible at blogging and gave it up. Seems I just can't find the time. Kudos to you for doing it everyday. And writing things down is good therapy too :-) Keep it up!

  8. Maritime, Thank you . :-) I kept a diary for years when I was younger, so blogging feels like I'm just resuming something I used to do anyway...but with pictures!!
