Today I'm going to be all about relaxing, and this little crocheted rainbow doily circle is going to be a part of it! I'll explain in a minute...First I'd like to show you where one of my crochet necklace "babies" showed up!
Helen, from the blog A Crafty Kind of Truffle, and 50 other sleuths, went on a Murder Mystery Weekend. It was actually a Wedding Reception and Masked Ball. You can find the details HERE. She wore one of my crocheted necklaces!! How exciting to see my "baby" going out and having fun.....even though 3 murders were involved! LOL You'll have to read it yourself! ^_^
I don't have murder on the mind...except for maybe me wanting to do some damage to the weather!...but I do have some things on my mind that have me wanting to slow it down, relax, be quiet...One of them being that my dad has been in so much pain lately that he's upped his surgery date. It's now going to be, instead of the end of March, at the beginning of March!...It's gonna be a rough time...for everybody!!
So, I'm beginning now to put myself in a calm state of mind. I'm reading, studying my spiritual material and Bible, listening to music, watching funny old movies {no murder themed movies now!! LOL}, and of course, crocheting!
I finally got the details of my custom order for the fingerless gloves all figured out, got the baby pink yarn, and her measurements, and I'll get started on them later today. First though, I'd like to finish the pair I just started...just because I know that if I don't do them now they'll end up being a project I didn't finish, just hanging in a bag somewhere! :-) This is where I am with the first one...
...Okay.....so I just have the cuff done so far! ^_^ But it won't take me long to finish them. I'm just going to relax myself into it today, and by tomorrow I may be able to show you a finished product!.
I'm trying to figure out how to maybe incorporate this into it...
This is a doily square, made up of colorful circles, that I was given by a friend as a gift. She got it from someone who, a long time ago, was making it into a tablecloth, place mat, or something! But they never finished...So she gave the already crocheted and sewn piece, and a cup full of other loose circle pieces, to me! {That's one of them in the header photo} She said: "I'm sure you can do something with them!"
Well, today is the day I try to see if I can "do something with them!" At least some of them. I'm trying to figure out if a few of the pieces would look good on a pair of fingerless gloves!...Do you think these colors go good together?
I'll see what it looks like when I get the glove more finished.
While I relax this way, hubby has his own way to relax. He likes walking in the Hoyoke Mall...especially early in the morning. They open the main doors so people who like to go for walks, but the weather is too bad to do it outside, can walk up and down the Mall hallways. The stores are not open, so you can't shop at this time...{Thankfully! Because hubby and a BIG Mall, and nobody in his way, could be dangerous!! LOL}
He goes out to get me a coffee sometimes and he comes back talking about what he saw while he was walking around in the Mall...and I get pictures of all the latest things. {Because I can't do that kind of walking anymore}...I was surprised to see a car INSIDE the Mall, but he said they always do that for promotional type things.
He says there's "All kinds of bargains!" going on now...and he took a picture of the pretty Skylight...
....Oooooooo!...Awwwwww!.....What is that?...Snow?! LOL
Alright, I've shown you what we're doing to relax. What do you do to relax.....besides reading blogs, which, if you're reading this, I KNOW YOU DO!!! LOL
*Deep Breath!.....Blow it out!*......Ahhhhhh! I just want to get to a balanced and relaxed place today. I'm on my way! :-] I hope you all have a relaxed and balanced day too!
Balance
You teeter totter, in the middle,
Lean a little, OOPS! You're off!
Now you know that you're not balanced,
and you hope the ground is soft.
It's not easy to achieve,
and once you have it, to maintain.
In almost every part of life
our balance is so hard to gain.
You have to balance your emotions,
how you eat, and how you spend.
And when you're balancing your checkbook,
try to keep a level grin.
Staying somewhere in the middle
takes a conscious, careful touch,
because it doesn't take a lot
to go from balanced to 'too much'!
So try to keep a balanced eye,
a balanced plate, and balanced life.
Keep your feelings all in check,
and minimize the stress and strife.
And don't compare your sense of balance
to your neighbor's...you're alone.
Because your neighbor's also trying
to get some balance of his own!
Congrats! I know how your "babies" like to go out and have a good time! LOL
ReplyDeleteInteresting pics of the mall :) I'm sorry you can't go in there :(
Lately I've had hard time relaxing, the frustration just takes over :S I'm really sick of winter now and I just want to hear the birds singing, see the grass and my wildlife. I MISS PHOTOGRAPHING! :( This happens every year at this time btw ;) I just have to hang on a little bit more and maybe I'll convince hubby to go out to the snowy forest or bog this weekend if the weather is okay. That should relax me :) So if your'e asking how I relax then my answer for the time when there is no snow is that I leave all my worries behind whenever I go to nature! :) And the best kind of nature is my own forests that surround our summer home. Just a few more months and ZEN! :D
Mariann, Ha! Ha! You DO know about my "babies" going out!!...And I know you must be really feeling cooped up, not being able to wander around the woods with your camera and some sunshine! Yep! Just hang on a little while longer and you'll be able to chase deer and baby foxes all over the place!...I'm telling myself to HANG ON too! Spring is coming here soon!!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteto relax? LOL I read blogs! I L-O-V-E those little rainbow flowers you inherited and think they'd be precious on the fingerless gloves! Woman, your hands must ache from all the knitting, shoulders too! I'm always a creaky mess after a knit night and you never stop! Go you though, your skills are like 10,000 times mine :) xo
ReplyDeleteLindsey, I knew you were a blog reader!! LOL...Thanks, about the little flowers. I keep trying to figure out how to arrange them on the gloves, but I'm not liking it...And as to the constant crocheting, I think my fingers have practiced so much that they don't know what to do if they're not crocheting!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI make jewelry to relax! Crazy as it sounds... I love the color of your new gloves and I'll be interested in how they turn out. Not too sure about the doily....but what do I know about it! LOL Sorry about your Dad! I know how much stress you must be under. I'll keep him and YOU in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteCinLynn, Yeah, I can see by how you're always creating pretty things that it does indeed relax you! :-)...Thanks about the gloves. I already finished one and started the other one. The doily pieces are not working so much...I think they're gonna have to go on something else! But believe me I tried!! :-]...And please do keep us in your prayers. We'll need all the help we can get!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your father is in a lot of pain, but im glad to hear they have moved the opp forward for him. You must be so proud to see that necklace ;-)) it looks lovely. And i love the colour of those gloves such a stong colour and the different stitch in it is amazing infact you just make crochet look so easy i love seeing what you make, you always inspire me. And those little doilys are so sweet reminds my of Joseph and the technicolour dream coat ;-)) enjoy the rest of your week, dee x
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your father is having a difficult time. Hope he is better after his surgery.
ReplyDeleteTaking pictures helps me relax! I get so lost in those moments that I feel better and calmer! I have done mall walking too, going early like your husband. I would much rather walk outside but darn it will be awhile for that with all this snow around! lol
delia, First, thanks for the encouraging words about my dad...Next, thanks for the nice words about my necklace and glove! And yes, seeing my necklace actually being worn does make me feel good. :-) The gloves are a simple single crochet stitch. I'm just crocheting in the front and back of the stitch is all. To me it "IS" easy! :-)) But...alas...the doily on them doesn't work. Gotta put that 'technicolor' "baby"...^_^ somewhere else. Hmmmm....a dream coat?!..... ^_^
ReplyDeleteCathy, I'm hoping he's better afterward too. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnd somehow I knew that picture-taking...and I also figured painting...would be on your list of things that help you relax...And it's nice to see hubby is not the only one here familiar with Mall Walking! :-) Let's hope it doesn't end up being the only way people can go for a walk anymore, because of the weather!!
I love the rainbow circles you have inherited. I am sure that you will find wonderful new homes for them.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of the mall and how it isn't crowded. I much prefer a quiet early morning shopping trip to the busy hustle & bustle later in the day.
Sorry to hear that your Dad is in such pain. I'll be sending good thoughts and wishes your way.
Jo-anne, They are pretty aren't they! I hope I can find a good place for them. If you've read today's post you know that they're NOT going on my gloves! :-))...And yes, the quiet is much better than the husle bustle. That's what I did yesterday. Stayed quiet. It was nice. :-)
