Behold! :-) ... The new hummingbird feeder! And if you look close you can see that it has a little visitor too! In fact, it had three little visitors all day yesterday! ^_^ They're loving the new feeder...even in the pouring rain!!
I was happy to have something to smile about too, because...as life always seems to go...after all of your wonderful comments of 'silly' encouragement yesterday (about hubby's naming my disorders ^_^), I got a call from hubby, who went to visit his mom, that there was news of something not so funny!
Hubby found his mom and a friend sitting there visiting, but complaining that there was a strong smell of gas in the house! O_O Hubby asked if they had called anybody. They said "no." O_O ... So hubby called the gas company.
The gas company said for them to "EVACUATE THE HOUSE...NOW!" So they did. But hubby waited around for the gas company to come and check out the house...They did...and it's not good news. :-( Apparently she has gas leaking from more than one area in the house. They turned it all off!...So, she can't heat water or cook...she has a gas stove.
Hubby tried to convince her to come and stay with us for a few days, but to no avail. She was satisfied that she could heat water in her microwave for the night! WOW!...What are the women of her generation made of?!! O_O I would've been looking for a Trump Towers hotel!!! ^_^ Okay...maybe, with our present budget, it would've been a Motel 6....with comfortable pillows! LOL...
...but it wouldn't be staying in a house that has the leftover smells of a gas leak, and heating up my bath water and dinner in a microwave!...Anyway! My mother-in-law and the rest of the family have some serious questions to answer today...like what's the next move...throw more money into the house?...or look for somewhere else to live....NOW?! It's not an easy decision, but everybody is getting together to try to come up with a solution.
Oh, if life were only about wonderful cups of hot tea...

...pretty flower hair clips...
...encouraging girlfriend confabs...
...and hummingbird watching...all day! :-)
But no!....Sometimes life is about quick evacuations, assessments, and endurance...before and instead of the boom! LOL Here's hoping yours is the former and not the latter!...Have a good day everybody!
Sometimes you expect a little 'This', and you get 'That'.
Sometimes you will wave away some dust, but it's a gnat.
Sometimes it's an image in the distance that's right here.
Sometimes all the straining isn't worth the things you hear.
Sometimes you will find that 'pretty bad' has got a perk.
Sometimes a vacation is the thing that you call work.
Sometimes conversation meant to heal can go too far.
and sometimes on reflection you are happy who you are.
Sometimes poetry can be so random, and yet deep.
And sometimes it's, upon reflection, thoughts you ought to keep.
Wow Deb, I hope that your husband and his mom can find an easy and not so expensive solution to the problem. I will keep you all in my prayers. I'm glad that the new feeder is working and bringing those beautiful hummingbirds to you to watch and enjoy. Great poem. Have a Great Day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Velma!...and I hope so too! I've worried about her living situation for a while now, but with this development it's kicked it up a notch! As always though, I'm sure things will work out. We just need to keep praying and be patient....By the way, thanks for the nice words about the poem. :-) Have a good day!
DeleteCute poem as always! Sorry I didn't get around to leaving a comment yesterday, but I did get a chuckle out of those names for your ailments!! You guys are so cute!!
ReplyDeleteWow....your mother in law needs to make a serious assessment, doesn't she!! Is it worth living in a house that could make her sick or could even mean her death!! Dangerous indeed!! I know you'll help her make the right decision.
I love that pillow in that first photo!! I wish I had space for so many of the things you show off, but my house doesn't need any mores "stuff!" LOL
As for the hummers...aren't they just beautiful? Jehovah sure knew what he was doing when he created them!! I'm lovin' mine too!!!
Enjoy the rest of the day my friend, take care and get some sleep!! Or...I may have to call you in the middle of the night! LOL
Hi Bead! ^_^ I'm glad you liked my poem, and hubby's disorder names. :-)) On a more serious note...you are so right about my MIL! Big decisions will be made tomorrow...*gulp!*...I'm gonna continue to watch my birdies. They keep me calm and peaceful. :-] Speaking of which...if you can't sleep, call me! LOL
DeleteGas leaks are sooooo scary...I would be running for the hills thinking the whole thing would blow up. I hope a good solution is found. (can't live on microwave power forever!) I loved the ladybug pic..it just made me smile! Enjoy the hummingbirds...I will be getting my feeder out this weekend for sure!
ReplyDeleteHow right you are, Yaya! You and I would be outrunning each other as we headed for the hills! LOL...Have fun with your feeder. I know I am! :-)
DeleteI'm so glad that hubby was there to make that phone call. I would hate to think how much longer your mother-in-law would've stayed indoors wondering about that nasty gas smell :-/
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the hummingbirds are back and liking their new feeder :)
I'm glad he was too, Jo! And it was just coincidental too. It was raining when he was near her house and wondered if she would be walking home from where he knew she had been. So he stopped by to make sure she was home safe and dry. He knew that she had a cold. Good Thing!!...And yes indeedy! The hummingbirds are LOVING the new feeder...more than the old one we had. I think it's because this one has 4 perches. :-) Have a good day!
