I'm No Slouch!!!

YAY!! As you can see, I finished it!!...PHEW!! I was worried there for a while because I was really 'NOT feeling' this knitting thing!!! And I don't even want to tell you how many times I almost gave up!!
      But I didn't! {Excuse the fat armed girl....Oh! That's my arm!! ^_^}
And as you can also see, it does have an opening for an actual head!! LOL I guess I haven't lost my knitting 'chops' all together!! :-)
Any of you that follow this blog know that I have two dummies I use to show off my crocheted items when they're done. Headless Tina shows off my scarves, gloves, and other things.
But when I want to show off a hat I let Shequita do it!
And she does a 'bang-up' job too!...Before I show you the rest of the Slouch hat shots though, let me remind you all that the Giveaway for the afghan/blanket I made...
     ...is going to be this upcoming Tuesday, March 1, 2011. So if you want to receive it, enter the Giveaway by first making sure you FOLLOW this blog. And then by commenting below. Up to one comment a day that you make will be considered as an entry in the Giveaway, unless you specify otherwise...Okay, back to Shequita. {Why don't you ever hear T.V. personalities say that?!..."Thanks for the update Bob. Now, back to Shequita!" LOL}
This is what it will look like from the front. And as you can see, Shequita's not wearing her hair today. So take that into consideration when you think about the fit...This is what it looks like from one side...
Now you can see why they call it a "Slouch" hat! It's got beautiful "floppiness" in the back! LOL
And this is what it looks like from the other side...
On my husband's route that he does every day for the bread and cupcake company he works for, he says he sees people wearing these Slouch hats all the time. It's in the city. And usually it's people who wear dreads (dread locks...a hair style). And while this hat can hold a lot of hair, it also will be good just to cover a cold head, or make a person look stylish!...Especially since I made it with purple suede yarn!!
What do you think?! Leave me some feedback below. And tell me...what are your plans for the weekend?!...Hubby and I are going to tackle the 'DREADED' T-A-X-E-S!!!! ^_^ I don't know why I say 'dreaded' taxes. Actually, I made a profit in my shop this year and might actually be considered a "Business" instead of just having a "Hobby". That's a good thing...tax-wise...right?! :-] Have a good weekend, whatever you're doing everybody!! :-)

Doing Taxes

Every year my mind gets taxed,
along with everything I own.
It's time to pay up 'Uncle Sam',
and see if I now need a loan!

It's time to tell the honest truth.
No time to 'fudge', deceive, or 'spin'.
It's now the time to 'pay the Piper'.
Grab bills and pills. TAX TIME AGAIN!!

I love the slouch hat. It is neat. Great color too. Have a great day Deb. Love the poem. We did our taxes a couple weeks ago. I like to get them done and out of the way as soon as we can. Love and Hugs....

  4. Peg, Thanks so much, about the hat and the poem. Now I'm on to try and crochet a version of this hat and see how that looks! :-)...After the taxes of course...*sigh*...You're smart to get tem done right away. We usually do, but procrastinated this year. Have a good weekend my friend!

  5. Taxes??? What's that??? Are we supposed to file taxes??? Better get hubby on board with it then. I don't have a clue how to do it. I need to go to Sams Club sometime today after service, but I have nothing else on tap for this weekend. We bottled our wine yesterday, so that's done.
Also I heard from my son last night! They're in Texas. They made it over the boarder! Yay!

  8. HURRAY! The slouchy is done - and it looks great too :-) Why don't you make that a giveaway as well? I look really good in purple... !!
I'm making a birthday card for my sister and then it's back to patchwork elephants with my new material for me, before a trek across London for birthday drinks with said sister.

  15. I had to nip by before I go away to check on your progress with the slouch hat. I'm so pleased you finished it because it looks great. Well done!
I'll have the daunting prospect of retrieving all my info for the tax in April...so I still have some time before I panic I've forgotten to put down something important. Good luck with yours.
I'll be reading your blog but unable to comment for a while as Hubby refuses to spend all day in an internet cafe while I blog - even if I do buy him french pastries or McFlurries!

  18. Deb, I love everything about the hat. The color, style, and yarn. It turned out great. Job well done. I know what you mean about taxes. I dread getting them done but once it's actually done it's a relief. Good luck getting your taxes done. My weekend looks like it will be spent at home watching movies cause it has been real cold here lately. Temps in the single digits at night during the day in the teens. Have a good weekend.

  19. delia, I'm embarrassed to tell you how pleased I feel about it!! :-)) Not that I think it's all that great. I'm just happy to know I hadn't forgotten how to knit. It's been so long since I picked up my needles...knitting needles I mean. Now it's back to the hooks! Crochet hooks I mean. :-)...And swimming sounds so good! We could almost swim in all the rainy snow we have now, but that's not the same as your little boy's fun...and we don't get a "Happy Meal" after doing it either! ^_^

  20. SnowflakeDreams1, Enjoy your movies! I'm doing the same...Got caught up relaxing with the hubby. Taxes? Tomorrow. :-) "The Maltese Falcon" and "Fannie" took my attention instead today...Thanks very much for the nice words about my hat. I'm so glad you like it...Okay, bundle up and have a good rest of the weekend! :-)

  21. I like the slouch hat! The color really makes it cozy-looking :-) I admit, I'm a city girl with a slouch hat - but I don't have dreds lol! Knitted slouch hats are so warm. I have a black one and I've worn it for the past two winter seasons :D

Good job on the hat and have fun with those taxes!

  22. Denise, Thank you! :-) That means a lot coming from an actual city girl! ^_^ Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  23. I really like it. It would hold all my hair nicely. Good on you for giving the knitting another go. I don't like knitting at all, I find it terribly boring.
Well my weekend is almost over, but today I met up with my sisters and brother for a rare lunch with all of them. It went ok, considering. LOL!

  24. Alittlesprite, I'm glad you like it! I wasn't sure I would still remember how to do it. It's been so long since I knitted anything! But it was just like riding a bicycle. :-)) But I'm still no more in love with knitting than I was before. I agree with you...boring!!! Or as I would say, S-L-O-W!!! :-)...I'm glad to hear things went okay with the family too! I read about your hesitancy with the visit. Are all your nerves still intact?! ^_^

  25. LOL! Yes they are. It really wasnt that bad. A little dissapointing in some bits but I've just got to let it go I guess. :)
