When I Laid My Head Down Last Night.....

      I'm going to start this post off doing something I normally don't do...asking a question. I usually just talk! But today I want to ask: At the end of the day, what is the feeling that you're after?! Do you want to feel dog tired enough to fall asleep, quiet and peaceful, jubilant and happy, or something else?!...And did you feel that way when you went to bed last night?!
       The reason I'm asking is because of how I was feeling last night when I went to bed. Some cool things happened to me yesterday...{and maybe for you too!...I'll tell you about it in a minute}...Some cool things that led me to my pen and paper, {the poem is below} and had me in a very nice state of mind by the time I went to bed....which, by the way,  was VERY early! About 8:15 p.m. to be exact!...I think I was just tired from grinning!! ^_^
      Part of what happened is why my blog might look a little different today! ^_^ I was contacted by the Guide to DIY Fashion at About.com to officially inform me that Wuglyees had been selected as a finalist in the 2011 About.com Reader's Choice awards. She said that based on the nominations they received, my company had made it onto the final ballot.
      Then she gave me a "Finalist Badge" to display on my blog. (which you no doubt have seen, up on the right) It has a link to the voting site!! (Voting ends on March 8th) :-) I feel so official!! {Wonder if I should be waiting for Oscar de la Renta, Ralfe Lauren, Vera Wang or somebody to send me a dress to wear?! LOL}
          I didn't dare tell her that she was late with this news, and that I'd been dancing around like an idiot and taxing my smile muscles to the hilt for a whole day already!! ^_^ But I DID tell her!! Not in those exact words....You know me and my words!! :-] Gotta be honest...but nice!
       I got so excited about 'Mr. Finalist Award Man' sitting up there in the corner, saying hello to everybody, that I decided to display the other awards I've received on my blog this year! (they're now on the right sidebar)...Okay, so I know I'm taking a chance that I'll look all conceited and full of myself!  O_o ... But I'm not...really, I'm not!....I'm just proud of myself!...My blog isn't even a year old yet, and me, with my half-a-computer-knowing-self, has some awards?!!
       It's a wonder I don't have a theme song!! LOL {Hmmm....'I did it my way...'; 'You've only just begun...'; 'Here's a quarter. Call someone who cares...'! ^_^}....Maybe I'll forego the theme song for now!  ^_^
        Other good news had to do with the shameless plug nice write-up Pikes Peak Pillow Company did me!! Take a look HERE
       And there was more good news! The nice lady from CSNStores.com contacted me about doing another giveaway of a gift code to one of you blog readers! It would be for something from any of their 200+ online stores, like www.cookware.com or www.allmodern.com!!...I contacted her to let her know that if I could do it in conjunction with the Giveaway that I'm already doing, in other words...whoever gets the afghan/blanket for March 1st, gets the gift code for CSNStores.com too... I'd be interested! I'm waiting for a reply. I'll let you know as soon as I hear! :-)
       And lastly, I got some wonderful news from the Etsy shop owner MaritimeArts last night! She featured my DragonFly Button Turquoise Blue Lampwork Necklace (the one in the header photo) in her new Treasury entitled What is Your Favorite?
      I loved so many of the other items in her Treasury, and in her own shop too, that I just decided to show them to you while I was talking! ^_^  Did you notice?!...They are the Blue Violet Heart Beaded Scissor Fob by TJBdesigns; the Long Knit Navy Blue Ribbed Scarf by StitchesStones; the Gray Cameo Collage Necklace by bungelowjame; the One Ruffle Skirt from MaritimeArts own shop; and the Romantic Blue Swarovski Pearl and Sterling Necklace by CinLynnBoutique.
      So, needless to say...but I said it anyway...I was a pretty happy girl when I laid my head on my pillow last night! I felt the way I always want to feel on a good day....maybe every day! :-)

When I Lay My Pillow Down

What do I want to accomplish
by the end of the day?
Do I want a sense of peace,
or have my nerves all at a fray?!

I want a calm to have set in.
To have my muscles all relax.
To have brain waves now slowing down,
and my awareness at a max.

I want to know that I've done good
when I lay my pillow down.
That I've caused someone to smile,
and feel more happy and unwound.

I want the people that I love,
without strings, to love me back;
And relationships I've formed
to be settled and intact.

When I lay my pillow down,
with my business put to bed,
I don't want to have to worry
that I've cheated or misled.

I want a sense of satisfaction,
and that feeling, "Job Well Done!"
No loose ends that need re-tying.
No last race I have to run.

What I want to have accomplished
at the end of the day,
is brain cells in the pink,
with no foggy, mental gray!

A happy family, happy me,
a happy God, without a frown;
And I want this every night,
as I lay my pillow down.

It means a lot to me!! :-] I wish I could do the same for you, with just words, when you don't feel well. :-( I'm hoping this cold takes a turn for the better soon. Just keep resting and sipping liquids...I recommend playing some good music too. :-)

  5. Congratulations!
    I agree with every word of your poem, I need to be settled, calm and content when I go to bed. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me last night, nerves were frayed and stress was a little high as some big decisions are looming for me.

  9. Kimberley, I know what you mean about the nerves being frayed and feeling stress too! Unfortunately that happens to me sometimes...a lot of the times lately! But I'm trying to get a handle on it...Go with the flow; Don't fret the small stuff; Don't be afraid of change; If you can't change it, why worry about it! {Things I'm learning to tell myself...while yet praying!! :-)}

  13. Deb, Your poem says it well. I think that all of us women like to feel that we have accomplished something good every day and that those around us feel good about themselves and thier day. I'm happy to see that you have received all those awards. You should display them proudly. For me it tells me if you can be successful so can I. It shows me the hard work that you put into it and that I must do the same. It also shows me to work on my craft my way and to be proud of it.Congrats on all your awards and accomplishments my dear blogger friend. We all here love you and your work.

  14. SnowflakeDream1, Vee, it's not only us women. I think all of us, men and women, want to know that, at the end of the day, we've done the best we could, took care of everyone we could, and we can relax in peace! It doesn't always turn out that way, but it's the goal!...I don't always achieve that kind of relaxed state, but I did last night! :-)...Thank you for taking the ride with me on this creative journey. And if the successes I achieve make you feel encouraged...GREAT!! All of yours certainly makes me encouraged!! Keep up the good work, and I'll be watching!!

  31. Facing50, WOW!!! That poem was really good!!...Uh Oh! The greatest humourist AND poet?!! Yep! Looks like my backyard is gonna get pretty crowded! ^_^ Good thing I'm not the jealous type...creatively speaking"...because I'd be worrying right about now!! LOL But instead I say: MORE! MORE! MORE!!...And thank you so much for your support too!

  32. Can't wait to check out those treasuries! Beautiful! Love both poems. Yes, I just turned the big "50" in January. Don't like it one bit! lol. But hey, what can you do? I am grateful. Some people don't make it that far. In my mind, I am twenty-five and spunky! Debbie, I love your positive attitude. It is all about being grateful and helping each other. :)

  33. Terri, Welcome to 50!! It ain't for 'sissies'!! ^_^ And it ain't for the faint of heart or weak of spirit either. I've learned, and now apply, a lot of wonderful stuff in my 50s!! I couldn't have been this ME in my 20s...for sure! I was waaaay more concerned about what other people thought of me. I guess caring about what "YOU" think of you comes with age! :-)
