This Hat For A Giveaway?!...Nah!

It's Monday!!! And it's cold!!! The temperature is only suppose to get up to about 58 degrees today. We've been playing with the heater thermostat all weekend. I'M NOT READY FOR THE COLD YET!!! But, ready or not.....!
I think I made these two hats just in time, right?!! You saw them already the other day here, but they weren't on my model. I just thought I'd show you how much better they look on an actual head. Hubby took the pictures.
Now that I see both of them on her head, I think I'm more partial to the multi-colored one. Even more than the Pistachio!! I know.....SURPRISING!! LOL
Although, what can I say, I DO love the Pistachio! :-)
I spent the whole weekend working on Pistachio mittens that would go with this hat to put in my Wuglyees shop, and on the custom ordered mittens, which had me pulling my hair out!! I have to finish them today...UGH!...and get to work on more mittens! I think I'm going to start with a pair to match the multi-colored hat. Why not?! :-)
I've been putting everyone's comments in the box for the Giveaway. And now that I have a couple of pictures of it...which was no small feat...I want to show you what you'll be winning this time around.
It's an afghan I made a while back!! I love the colors,...light and dark green, and white...and I love the design. It was intense and difficult work because I had to crochet each strand of color, angling the strip to the left and right. Then, after all of the strands for the whole afghan were made, I had to braid them together just right, sew them in place with a crochet needle, and crochet the borders!!
The only down-side to this afghan was that I made it with some yarn that was given to me, some yarn that a friend just knew I could use! (I'm not going to say the brand because that wouldn't be very nice!) It's not a very good quality yarn, in my opinion. If I ever did the pattern again I'd use better yarn. When I started the pattern with this yarn though, I was just going to work the pattern to see if I could do it. But as I got into it I became more and more determined to finish it to see how it came out!
I love how it came out! It would be a great decorative piece for the end of a bed or thrown over a chair. It's not one you'll be too happy with if you're looking for it to be warm, or soft and comfortable...because it's neither! :-) That's just me saying that though. And I admit I can be pretty picky about what I like!
I'm hoping it goes to someone who can see the beauty in it, because this "baby" is going to cost me a pretty penny to ship!! I'm happy to do so for it to get a good home though. So, tell me, what do you think of it?! Would you have a place for it in your house?!....As a bonus, it doesn't eat much and it never cries!!! ^_^
My poem today is just plain silliness. It was inspired by a comment someone made on Facebook about how we all get heavier as we get older because our brains have a lot more information in them. I thought it was so funny!!! LOL Next thing you know, my brain, with too much information in it, started spitting out a poem that I had to write down to get it out of my head!! ^_^

Big Girls, Big Girls

Big girls, Big girls, whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when you don't know what to do?
Big Girls, Big Girls, Whatcha gonna do,
when your brain starts getting bigger than your bra size or your shoe?

Big Girls, Big Girls, whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when your body's getting new?
Big Girls, Big Girls, Whatcha gonna do,
when weight is dropping off and your confidence is too?

Big Girls, Little Girls, Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when you haven't got a clue?
Little girls, Little Girls, Whatcha gonna do?
Focus on your mind and let your body work for you!

All Girls, All Girls, whatcha gonna do?
When you wake up in the morning and it's not about the view?
All Girls, All Girls, it's not the sit-ups that you do...
It's not about your eating. It's about just being you!

hmm, I have that same pattern. Didn't get to work it up yet but was thinking of it more of a throw on the back of a couch or in a car because with the design - it couldn't be for warmth. Wow, sounds like a time consuming project but I think it was well worth it - It is gorgeous. I'll be sure to let people know about your giveaway.

  17. MaureenHanson, Thank you for the nice words about my poem, my blog, and my work! I wish I could take full credit for the idea of the pattern for the afghan, but it's a modification. It was a take-off of a blanket I saw in Vanna White's crochet book! I'm glad you like it. It may end up being yours. Your name is going in the drawing for it! :-)

  18. Sara Duggan, You have this pattern?! Good! I don't remember mine being hard to do, just tedious, having to put the pieces together at the end...And I agree that with the openings it's more a decorative afghan than a warmth thing. Although it's big enough to warm you up when it's laid over something!...And thanks for the shout-out about the giveaway too!
