I know that probably by the time you all read this, it might not be morning. But it's 4:30 a.m. for me right now! It's EARLY for a Wug in Wuglyees land!...*Yawn*...I'm getting an early start today because I have guests suppose to be coming over and I didn't want to miss posting on my blog. See how much I've gotten used to this?! :-))
Anyway....first let me give you the update about my dad. It's good news!! The surgery went well. He was only in the hospital for one day. He's home...walking with a walker right now...but home. The doctor says he'll be walking like he was before in 'no time'...The way he was walking before wasn't all that great either...^_^...but hey! he thought that was great news! Who am I to argue?! ^_^
On the Wuglyees front, I got a request for a custom order yesterday that had me wondering "why didn't I think of that?" A gentleman wondered if I could make some crocheted lapel pins. Lapel pins! For a man's suit!....Yeah! I can do that!!
So I got out my TINY crochet needle, and some nice crochet thread, and...
....made this!
I even put one of my crocheted backs on it...which was no small feat with that tiny needle!!
And with one of my vintage buttons on it, I think it looks pretty cool! He thought so too when I sent him the pictures of it. He inquired about me making a set of them for him!! I sent him my price. Let's see if that scares him off, or if he's still interested. LOL It's so tough knowing what to charge for your work, but I kinda have a formula now. I figure out how much the materials would be, including my rare vintage buttons, and then I go from there...difficulty, time to make, etc...
Even after all that figuring, I still think my prices could be a bit higher. But, for now, it's not a major issue. If I get famous for my crochet designs and talent......Okay, so I'm dreaming . ^_^ Allow me room for a little delusion. It's still VERY early here!!
Thanks to all of you 'Nuts' out there for the nice, and funny, comments you shared with me yesterday. It's good to know that me and my family are not alone!! :-)
Have a GOOD weekend!!!
Have a good weekend!
Spend some time with your kids,
do the errands you been meaning to do,
do a little grocery shopping,
maybe make a chicken stew.
Organize your messy space,
clean the closets, throw things out,
watch a little mindless T.V.,
and replace the bathroom grout.
Take a walk around the park,
play some board games with your friends,
maybe even cut your hair
(but just a little bit, off the ends).
Take a trip to Grandma's house,
do some gardening in the yard,
give new projects a little finish,
but nothing that might be too hard.
It's the weekend, after all;
It's your week's tail, at a wag;
No need for scurry, hurry, rushing.
No! You want this time to lag!
Cute poem! And I love the lapel pin!! That's cool! Maybe you'll be the first to have them in your shop. Way cool!!!! I hope he says "yes!" Have fun with your company and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGood news about your Dad! I'm so glad it went well!
CinLynn, Thanks my friend!! :-) With my big mouth I may have given up my chance to be the first one with them in my shop!! LOL ... Thanks for the concern for my dad too.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about your dad i was so pleased to read this, Great little lapel pin hope he goes for it im sure he will ;-)) Hope you had a lovely day today with your guests, dee x
ReplyDeleteThanks delia, I'm happy about dad too...And thanks about the lapel pin too. He really likes them. I'm going to be making at least 2 for him!! It was a good day. I hope yours was too! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's good news about your Dad :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that teeny flower! It looks so delicate. I love the weekend poem. I sure wish it would last longer my weekend is almost over.
Great news about your Dad! Guess what My parents were here for my birthday! Totally surprised me! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe lapel pin is so cute. I found that when I had my market store that it was difficult to price things based on the time they take to make. Customers don't seem to care about how much time and work you put into an item, just the end result. It is difficult to judge I agree.
Jo-anne, The weekend sure does fly by, doesn't it! Too bad weekends are 5 days long too! :-)...And thanks for the nice words about my dad, the lapel pin, and the poem...Have a good week! :-)
ReplyDeleteAlittlesprite, Thanks for your nice words of encouragement about my dad. :-) And I'm glad you got to visit with your parents this weekend too!...And you are so right about the pricing thing. If people actually saw the time and attention to detail that goes into making just one of my little crocheted flowers, they'd be surprised! And yet, try to get even a fraction of what that's worth....UGH! Oh well, it's just a good thing that I'd make them for free anyway...because most of the time I feel that's what I'm doing!! LOL Have a good week Jo!
