It's A Good Thing I Only Have ONE Brain!!

Phew! Don't you love it when your brain totally evacuates the premises and leaves you all alone trying to navigate complex problems and fried emotions?! Ha! Ha! I know....it sounds all dramatic!...Well, it was!! And I'm going to spare you the details...STOP Clapping!! LOL
The day wasn't a total dud...although I could argue that point to myself if I had another brain! ^_^ I know one thing for sure...if I don't have another day like yesterday for a while, it'll be just fine with me!
And I have to apologize to Alittlesprite, who sent me the crochet YoYo bag pattern. I made the mistake, on yesterday's post, of attributing my wonderful gift to Blooming Lovely!! How rude of me! :-( I want you to know that it was not intentional. I just happen to have two super blogger pals from Australia, and I got the names and the circumstances mixed up. {Some people have bad hair days....I have bad brain days! LOL} So please forgive me.
Part of the reason I was so scrambled yesterday had to do with the saga that is my car situation right now. The repairman said it was the distributor and would cost about $700.00 to fix. Hubby and I agonized about whether our old jalopy was worth throwing that much money into. When we finally agreed that we would...to give ourselves time to look for another car, the car repairman called back and said: 'Uh...we made a mistake. The part we thought would be this much, is actually this much!! So now it'll be $200.00 more to fix it!'.....Yeah, right! We've played this game before! Grrrr!
I'll tell you what we're doing tomorrow....In the scheme of things, my scrambled brain and frustrating car problems are nothing in comparison to this mornings news about Japan. Apparently they are now saying that there's a "Grave and Serious" breach of one of the nuclear reactor cores...*smh* So sad! Three raging meltdowns in progress?!...WOW!
Time to stop watching the news for a little while, and find something to smile about!...Thank you Berna of custombybernolli!! She included my Turquoise Green Birds on a Wire Necklace...
...in her new Treasury entitled NY Fashion Week!
So many cute things in there! Please check it out.
And something else to smile about?...My back-less flower supplies I've been feverishly making!
I also made a new brooch...
It has one of my special backs on it, and it has a vintage and rare button too!
It was good to have moments of quiet so that I could focus my brain on something besides confusion and frustration!! Have you ever had days when you wished you had an extra brain?!

I only have one brain

There've been times when I felt that I needed
an extra brain to remember some stuff.
An extra noggin to handle the chaos,
when my life and my schedule got tough.

A much bigger cranium for non-essentials;
Somewhere to go when my brain wants to bail.
An extra universe inside my skull space,
where I could place all my 'Mental Junk Mail'.

But, knowing my thinking, there's no use
having two places for my mind to stretch.
Two places to toss around ideas.
Just more balls of ideas I can't catch!

My one brain is an occupied scramble.
A pink-celled, forgetful and frustrated mess!
Do I need another brain somewhere,
holding problems that I must address?

No, I have enough things to focus on.
Things so confusing and numerous to do.
So it's a good thing I only have one brain!
What in the world would I ever do with two!

  1. It is sad about Japan for sure! I feel so bad for them. It's depressing to watch the news right now.
Sorry about your car problems. Sounds like it may be time for something new. Hard when it's the ONLY vehicle you have too! I wish you the best in that one.

  2. It sure is!! :-( ... We haven't had car problems like this for years!! Maybe that's why the prices seem so high! Everybody says: "That's not bad!"...Really???!!! My girlfriend just spent about $1,200 on her van. I thought THAT was highway robbery!! I'm too old for this system....that's it. I'm just too old!!! LOL

  3. Deb so sorry to hear that the car thing is still on going.Do me this favor please for your sake. Ask the mechanic what part exactly is it that your car needs then call a couple of auto parts stores and the actual dealer and ask for a quote on the price of the part. If you can buy the part cheaper and just pay the mechanic the hourly wage to put it in you can save your self alot of money. Knowledge is power. I asked my husband who is a mechanic and this is what he told me. Good luck.

  4. SnowflakeDreams1, Velma, thank you so much for the suggestions. In fact though, my dad is a mechanic too...yet another thing we have in common, a mechanic in our family! LOL We did exactly that. Got a guy to do it, but he quoted us a similar price. :-( So, between the two times we had to have it towed ($200!!), and the parts and labor, it's going to end up costing us about the same amount!! UGH! So frustrating! But WHATEVER!...Hubby says we'll fix it and put a "For Sale" sign on it!! LOL

  5. Deb that is to bad that it didn't change the cost of getting it fixed. I really like the red flower you made. Red is my favorite color. Don't get me wrong the other flowers are lovely. The red one just really catches my eye. Congrats on the new treasury. Love the poem. Hope you have a better day today.

  6. Thanks Velma, I know!! Why can't we go back to the time of the Flintstones cars anyway?!!! LOL {Trying hard to lighten it up today!}...And thanks about the poem...and the red flower! I just listed it in the shop. I hope somebody else likes it too! :-) Thanks for all your help and concern. I hope you have a good rest of today, and weekend!

  7. Oh my, could I ever relate to that post! I had a day last week I thought I needed to go to my doctor and have her check my hormone levels. I could not get to a clear thought all day - it was awful! After some quiet time though, I felt much more back to my "normal" self... And visiting your blog always makes me smile.... Love, Silke

  9. Silke, I think my problem is more about having too much, and too frustrating issues on my plate and in my head. I'm hoping that soon everything will be back to calm. Crocheting all day today has quieted my head. I'm looking forward to my 'Date night' tonight and some quiet time. We have an Assembly this weekend. So I'm sure that will give me some good food for my mind too! :-)...Thanks for such sweet comments about my blog. I appreciate it. I thought you were still away. Glad to see you! :-]

  11. Hi Debbie - If I could only learn to make those adorable little crochet flowers~~ I cannot crochet at all - I've tried so many times! They are precious and your necklace is outstanding - it looks beautiful in the etsy treasury! Great job ! Love the little flower brooches too - the possibilities are endless!

  12. Vicki, Awww! I wish you were close by so I could teach you! I've been thinking about whether I should do some Youtube tutorials about flower making and crocheting. Maybe I'll push that to the front of my 'thinker'! :-)) Thanks for the nice words about my necklace too!

  13. We all have days where our brains go on vacation! I know mine goes on holiday now & then!
Sorry to hear about your car troubles. I can totally understand how you feel on that one *sigh* I'll cross my fingers & toes that your car is up and running nicely soon.
I love that red brooch you made. It looks fantastic!
