GIVEAWAY...Sold Away.....And Sending One Away!!

       I think this was the quickest turnover of a sale I've ever had!! Of course, it was a custom order...but I've made some custom ordered things that never were taken! This hat, though, was listed yesterday and when I came online this morning it was gone!! Another "baby" off to see the world! ...I'm starting to feel like I'm doing my part for international relations!! ^_^
   Speaking of which, every since I gave away the last blanket I've been racking my brains over what to give away next. Should it be a Wuglyee scarf, a crochet beaded necklace, a brooch. I was thinking small.
     But my girlfriends came over yesterday...{We had a ball, by the way!!!}...and so much stuff had to be moved from here and there, pushing this to this side, placing that on that side, getting this and that out of the way, that it made me realize.......a lot of the stuff I'm holding onto just has to go!!!
    One thing is for sure...I'm never going to sell certain things in my Wuglyees shop ever again....*sigh*....and that includes baby items. I LOVE them, and I love to make them...or I did...but I'm not going to go through all of the testing and permanent labeling, etc... just to be able to crochet things for children and babies. So.....I have to get them into the hands of someone who will appreciate them. Sitting in my craft room, at the right temperature for preservation, is doing what?!....NOTHING!!
    Some of you have already had your names put in the GIVEAWAY drawing for the next gift and you don't have any idea even what you're in the drawing for!! ^_^ So, this is it...
    It's a large, soft, crib sized, rainbow colored popcorn baby blanket. It measures approximately 68x34 inches {172.7x86.4cm}. It has sky blue, yellow, green, pink, white, purple, and some multi-colored thread too. Some of the yarn has little shimmering flecks in it...pretty.
        The popcorn balls are in a kind of diamond pattern. I saw how this was done on a small lettering blanket a while back and I liked it!
      The edging doesn't have the diamond pattern. It just has layers of soft colors.
      It's a very soft and warm blanket. So, even if you don't have a baby's crib to put it in, you can use it to throw over you on chilly evenings. But of course, if you know someone about to have a baby, or just had one, it would make the perfect gift....I made it and I'm telling you that with this one you won't be disappointed. If I had a baby you would never have even SEEN it!!! LOL
    The drawing is ONLY for those, anyone worldwide, who follow this blog. The drawing will be on November 15, 2010. All you have to do is comment on this blog! You can have one entry a day by just making a comment about anything you like!...I would appreciate it if you took a minute and checked out the crocheted items and poetry in my Wuglyees shop also, but that is not required to be entered in the GIVEAWAY
   After my meeting at the Kingdom Hall today, I'm going to be relaxing and doing some more reading....a magazine, and my new book "The Help". {Ooooo! I'm loving it!!} I had plenty of excitement going on in here yesterday. My stomach muscles are still sore from all the giggling!! :-] And all the eating!! We had stuffed shrimp and sirloin steak and bacon rolls, crab dip with crackers, cheese, wine, and who knows what all else!!! ^_^ And we played Bible games, and "Catch Phrase" too!!...There also was some serious, and encouraging talk...how girls do!! We just had a good time. Wish you all could have been here too! ;-)
    Today, since we kicked hubby out for the day yesterday, I'm going to be extra sweet and nice to him. He was off visiting his dad in the facility and working on the car while I was having fun. We didn't even save him one bacon and steak roll!!!...*smacking the back of my hand* ^_^ I gotta be extra good to him today!
   You guys have a good rest of the day, and weekend!!!

Blankets Of Love

I make blankets, in my own time;
putting love in every stitch;
I let no one rush the process;
I'm not concerned with getting rich.

Crocheting brings about a calm
that nothing else quite seems to do;
I get such joy from choosing patterns,
and from choosing colors, too.

The more intricate-the better;
that gives me much more time to think,
'cause I slow down, so I can read it
keeping brain cells in the pink.

Just the steady, jutting motion
of my needle's in and out
makes me remember who its for,
and what the pattern's all about.

I made a blanket for my sister,
with kittens crocheted all around;
and another one, for Tammy,
with her name written up and down.

I made a special one last year.
(made lovingly-to give away)
It marked the 20 years of love
that we remembered on that day.

We threw a party for our friends;
We had good food, and dancing too;
and on the blanket, it was written:
'Roses are red, violets are blue'.

That was a special blanket;
but special is always what I say
'cause I put the time into them
so that they won't easily fray.

They are blankets made with love
that I'm proud of-from 'chain one';
To watch the faces of receivers
is, without doubt, half the fun.

So-if I ever make a blanket
for your anniversary,
or your wedding, or engagement,
here's the thought you'll have from me:

That 'I love you very much,
and making it was fun to do;'
and that 'with every single stitch
my every thought had been of you!'

  6. Mariann, Hi! Thanks! It was nice to have a custom order actually pay for what they ordered!! :-) I've had a couple of bad experiences with that. I'm an eternal optimist though, so I just knew it wouldn't happen again...and I was right!
    Thanks for the nice complement on the blanket and the poem too. Nice to see your smiling face! :-)
